2 years ago I was backing into a bizarre driveway (mine) and caught my crossover on a errant sidewalk edge bending my down tubes and creating a rattle where my exhaust vibrates against my 9" at idle. I have been avoiding this job since, I HATE fitting and welding on my exhaust. The absolute worst job I EVER did on my mustang was to thread my exhaust around my 9" and through my Watts Link out the back.
My friend turned nemesis (2nd 66) has thrown-down on a date 2 weeks from now for opening day at Watkins Glen which has turned to a forcing function since I disconnected the exhaust from the headers, in a moment of faux-productivity. Whilst laying on the floor staring at what's next, I thought to myself, "I need a beer" and never returned last Nov.
I have the day off today and planned to tackle this mother and now here-I-sit ACTUALLY contemplating doing my taxes today rather than cutting the stock I purchased in October and fitting and welding. THAT is world-class procrastination my friends.
Just curious what you guys/gal are putting off in the hopes that I am part of a tribe or brotherhood of dysfunctional procrastinators as opposed to a singularity...
LOL! - I cut my new front springs just a wee bit too short before installing them last summer. I like the stance but I'm tired of turning into driveways and parking lots at 1mph so tire doesn't rub fender. I hate R&R'n springs too but that's my plans for this weekend.
The new electronic distributor, coil, and wires that are staring at me brand new in the box on the parts shelf.
Also the LS engine that's crammed into the corner of my storage that I'm supposed to install in my Silverado.
I stopped trying to trace that @$&?ing phone and intercom cable in one of the classrooms to read this.
Actually I'm in a similar boat as you except my exhaust is still connected. I was going to replace it but decided not to at the moment. Right now it's still up on 4 jack stands. I'm just going to finish putting my clutch fan in and call it a day until Watkins Glen is over. I think I'll drive it back to NJ Sunday night when I go back for work for the week. I need to give it a good shake down run. It's in pretty good mechanical shape just looks like crap.
My taxes done. The wife is eye balling a vacation with the refund.
Doing the fiberglass repair to my heater box. I really hate that sort of thing. I'm absolutely going to do it this weekend unless I can find something more important to do.
Putting the AC/heater box back in. I hate firewall heat so I added a little extra insulation on the firewall, knowing it would make installation more difficult. Finding it no longer possible by myself I did that rarest of things, I asked my wife for help. Explained that if/when I put it in the right place, studs would come through the firewall and I needed her to put at least two of THESE nuts on those studs. Dropped the box and crawled back out to show her how they would come through THIS hole and THAT hole. Dropped it all once again and crawled back out to explain lefty-loosy, righty-tighty, failed to get the studs through the holes a third time with sweat running into my eyes and just stopped. The box has been sort of hanging haphazardly under the dash for like two years now.
The garage now has AC and I've been coaching a grandson as to the ways of nuts and bolts so maybe sometime this year.
It's really not a hard job. Worst part is attaching the listing wires through the foam to the seat spring. After that it's smooth sailing. I think it took me like 3-4 hours to do all the seats. Plus an hour to fix the pivot on the driver's side (common issue with '68 seats).
You definitely want to use the special cutters for the hog rings. I used the Xuron 2193. Side cutters don't work.
I've been procrastinating what to buy / do on the mustang next. I have a giant list of things I want to accomplish, but can't choose a starting point to save my life.
...well, my taxes are done - no chit! and the sun is still up - I have myself convinced I'm goin in, translation I'm out of reasonable excuses... Dayz not over yet...
I see your not currently on line here maybe your out in your garage. Glad I could influence your time off.Now lay off the beer and get that turd of yours ready to go to Watkins :grin2: Man I hope it's nice that day :|
Can it really be considered procrastination if you set your limits low. I mean a person needs to know there limits,,right  Remember that thread last fall asking what you plan to do to your car over the winter? I had a pretty healthy list,, Yeah I got exactly none it done except for a pile of parts waiting to go on :frown2: but in my defense My garage has no heat and I've been working a bunch of overtime
i've been talking about buying a 69 fastback to convert my coupe to all over this forum.... someone posts a decently priced FB project car for sale... and I get cold feet.
I'd also say installing my holly sniper but its on backorder for 2 months
Well I fixed the fold down on my '65FB so it won't rub. Been idle for weeks on installing all the plastic panels. Got two original gauge regulators, need to install to get the gauges to work. Got a set of GT40 heads, need to install flat top pistons to work. Need to rebuild the callipers up front. And so on...
I procrastinated reassembly of the four speed for a couple of weeks, but I finally tackled and finished that last weekend. Now...procrastinating the strip job for primer, body work, and paint...which is why I will go over the head exhaust ports one more time this weekend so I can start the K-Spec 289 build and swap the engine and trans. Then back to procrastination on the body.
Doing my DIY alignment after I installed the SoT coil-over system. I just need to get on with it...
