Lowest miles 64.5-66

We're always seeing low miles Shelby's and Boss's but is there a verified first gen lowest miles car out there (of any code or configuration)? Just curious.

Is it a highly optioned car or a run-of-the-mill car that just never got driven?

People with low milage cars have more self control than I do.

That said, I do appreciate that museums exist for the purpose of showcasing cars that are exactly in the same condition as they were when they left the factory. There's no way any garage of mine will ever be mistaken for a museum. As long as there's one Cobra, one Shelby, & one Mustang (of every model) in perfect condition sitting in a museum somewhere, then I feel the rest of them are free to be driven until the wheels fall off.

I have a few strong beliefs. I believe we are part, of a plan bigger than our imaginations, I believe in freedom, I believe in family, and finding the gal of your dreams. And I believe in DRIVING, not just looking at cars.

Garage
Confused Low miles?

I'm with zray. Why do I need a garage queen to dust? I've done 389,000+. PO probably did at least 80K (in his 26 years as owner) so it's most likely near 1/2 million miles!

I have a 64-1/2 that showed 69,000 miles on it when I bought it in 2012. It's a 6 cyl, but not the original engine. It now has a rebuilt 200 instead of the 170. I believe the car was hit in the right front and sat for a long while before someone brought it back to life.

It could have 169,000 miles, but there are many indications of the lower miles. I pulled the cover on the rear end and the gears showed little signs of wear.

No real way to tell for sure, but it doesn't matter as long as I can drive it when I want.

64.5"D" code with 53000 original miles.
Car sat in a barn for 35 years before I got it.
Currently under a full restoration, should be done this summer.

I looked at a 1969 "boss 429" car with less than 3,000 on the clock.

Major problems was that it was a no name dealer special order, basically a body in white equivalent, and was coded as a 6 cylinder, and then converted at the dealership.

The engine, trans and other boss parts long gone, and the rear frame rails were ripped and folded, as the car had gone the 3,000 miles 1/4 at a time.

Nothing was straight on the car, everything was warped, bent, banged, etc.

The Phillips head screw holding on the left coat hook was not perfectly aligned north south east west, so I passed on the car.

Garage
Thumbs Up Mileage

I bought a 65 K GT FB from a friend that stored it in his garage for 37 years. It has 58K miles on it and he did 600 in 37 years. I did 1,000 the 1st year. Bought a 69 GT convert that the PO did 25,000 miles in 25 years. I did 15,000 in 2 years! We bought a 16 GT convert, had CDC install their Outlaw pkg, picked it up in Detroit, drove to SEMA, went to CA for 2 days and them home to Fla. 5,500 miles & 2 oil changes in 2 weeks. It's 1 1/2 years old and has over 24K on it! Even Shelby told us to drive them!
