Hi - different question than the most recent issue as to ignition posted a little earlier. Dash lights do not work - have not for some time, but went out all at once. No problems with anything else in dash, at all. How could this be related to a radio installation at about the same time (with in 2 weeks). Ideas? Thanks.

One of the two wires that come down for the radio is a lead for the dimmer lights in the dash. The other wire is a switched positive for the radio. The wire for the dimmer light is for the light in the radio. Maybe you used this as a ground? I did that in a mustang about 17 years ago, didn't have any dash lights after that.

VERY old post, but i have exactly done the same thing two days ago.
Installing my custom autosound in a hurry i used the radio light wire as a ground....
Now my dash lights are out.

I have new fuse, everything else is working fine.

What did you do?...change the switch?

Doesn't take much to damage the rheostat in the switch...
