Default Custom 65 build (Pic Heavy)

Quick introduction.

I work for Scott's Hotrods in Oxnard CA. We build a lot of cars each year, and we just so happen to be building 2 65 Mustangs to compete for Street machine of the Year at Goodguys in Columbus Ohio. I thought you guys may enjoy a few pics of the build.

What started as a quick resto mod turned into a full blown frame off, custom.

Here's a few shots of our chassis.

The stock subframes and floor were pulled from the car and the body is in place to fit to the new chassis.

Frames on a new floor is started

Tunnels in

The spacers will be pulled and polyurethane washers will be used to mount the body to the frame

Here's the guys starting on some of the sheetmetal. When it's all said and done the body will be radically subtle (I just made that up, LOL)

adding an inner door pull

perfecting the jams.

door handles shaved

bear claw latches installed

lock and filler shaved

say bye bye to the drip rails

Motor and trans are here!!

Here's a shot of the floor. You'll notice that no floor space was lost. In 99% of all full frame Mustangs, you lose about 4" of space. We don't do that cause I hate my head hitting the roof, LOL

Customer really wanted a center console cup holder big enough to fit a Big Gulp.....so that's what he got!!

Here's some more exterior work:

The front bumper is narrowed, shaved and recessed into the body. A new lower valance was made and an entire new front end sheetmetal is being built.

Motors in

New inner fender panels made.

Firewalls tucked away all nice too.

a set of scoops were made

here's a good shot of the rear bumper recessed and flushed out.

A complete new trim piece was made and the grill inserts were custom made.

Anyhow, thanks for looking. I'll update this as we go.

While I'm not a fan of the mods, I must say that is some awesome craftsmanship.

Sounds like it is going to nice. I really don't care for shaved doors and recessed bumpers but the work is top notch.

definitely not everyone's cup of tea; especially most of the Mustang groups, but this customer (and us) love taking things to the extreme.

Thanks for the compliments.

I was just wondering if Scotts Hotrods is run by Scott Mika? He was a custom car builder here in MN at one time.

Scott's is run and owned by Justin Padfield. He has built many award winning cars both Great 8 Riddler cars and last years AMBR ( Americas Most Beatiful Roadster). He has been featured on many TV shows including a 90 day build of Heavy Metal on "Rides" the topless red 56 Pickup. The shop also features many manufactered parts that are second to none in the chassis and suspension arena. You can check them out at Scotts Hot Rods & Customs I am one of Justins biggest fans and customers. I own the mustang in the post and a roaster he is building for Detroit in 2010. I built this mustang with my Son a couple years ago with help from many of you through posts and have now decided to go to the extreme and compete for Street Machine of the Year in Columbus this July.
