Default New Member with 65 coupe

Hi my names Brian, Im from Tennessee.

Im 19 and this is my first classic car. I have always had a love for cars since I was little. My dad has had 6 mustangs and 2 years ago we sold a 71 Torino Cobra 429 cobra jet car.

I am learning alot about restoring cars that I thought I already knew. My dad is helping me, but he is letting me do most of the work myself so I can learn.

I have been reading the boards for a couple of weeks now and it seems like there are alot of good people here with alot of info.

Now on to the car.....

This is my 65 coupe that I bought at the first of August. I got a really good deal on the car, and it was the most solid car I have ever fount. I was originally a California car that made its way to Tennessee sometime around 1994. It was a original 260 3 speed, black on black car. Of course the original motor and tranny was gone, and now it has a 351 windsor and a c4.

This is how I got it.

It ran good, but with a 2 barrell. I fount a 650 holley double pumper with a edlebrock aluminum intake, and that really helped open it up. It already had a set of headers. I started collecting parts and getting ready for restoration. Then a couple of weeks later shes off to the body shop.

Here she is through some of the body shop phase.

There was no expense spared. I bought all new metal, All the chrome is new, and new gas tank and alot of other crap. I got a msd 6a box and a msd pro billit distributor brand new never used for 200 bucks.( I love finding good deals)

I decided that I wanted a T-5, so I fount a good used t-5 with short shifter for a good deal.

Then one night while surfing Craigslist I fount the Best thing ever. It was a 351w block completely machine bored .30 over, with a set of Weisco pistons (top dollar) and comp roller cam and lifters, It was $3000 dollars worth of stuff,( he had every receipt) and I got it for $800 bucks. He had everything done and never put the motor together and decided he didn't want to finish it.

Heres all the stuff, Its so beautiful

I haven't finished that motor, I can't decide what I want to do. I have a good running 351w in the car, but I have this block and its should be good for a good 400 horsepower. Oh wait I think ive decided now

Well anyways heres the car after paint.

Thats how it sets as of now, im doing some more research and collecting parts to do the suspension and interior and engine and getting a disc break conversion over the winter. Those are just the roller wheels, I can't decide on what set I want yet, I think im going with 17's chrome something.

Im gonna do sort of resto mod, but keep it simple now. I cant go to over the top cause im still in college. But I hope to have all of the stuff mentioned done by next summer, Then when I get more time and money Im gonna do some real custom touches, like a custom sound system in the truck( something classy) and stuff like that.

I hope to get to know everyone better here, I take all help, opinions, and criticism with a open mind.

She's beautiful, Brian. That black paint really shines. Congrats on the car and welcome to VMF.
