Default Both Floors in, Seam Sealed

Both floorpans and toe boards are welded into the car now, as well as the seat pans. I painted over the seams on both sides and then seam sealed on both sides. It looks a little rough, but no one will see it. Unless they really look terrible to you all, I'll leave them until winter break if I get bored or something. I don't have a spray gun so I'm going to brush on all my Rustoleum hopefully this week, and then I just put in my order for Damplifier from Second Skin Audio.

I was planning on replacing the cowl, however decided to go with the plastic hats as my damage isn't as severe as once thought. I did take off the cowl to fender extension pieces, and had to replace them with new pieces. I was wondering if you had an recommendations of how I could get this extension and the rest of the paint that is burned from welding repainted the same Ivy Gold as on the body. Is it possible to find a spray paint from one of the reproduction books?

Thanks,
Todd

So you are going to have to change your sig now that your floors are solid, right?

Great job. Once you get the pieces installed it makes a huge visual difference, doesn't it?! I just started on the floors on my '66 coupe this past weekend. I'm hoping to have mine done over my next weekend (fear not, I work 4-10's so my "weekends" are 3 days long!).

I'd strongly urge you to reconsider using the plastic "hats" in the cowl. If not properly treated, the remaining metal will continue to rust out. The plastic should be consider a temporary patch only. Since you've already gone to the repair lengths you have with the floors, why risk a leak and your new pans rusting? Just food for thought. Again, great job!

Todd-

I haven't heard from you in a while, how are things going? Looks like you have made some good progress.

Looks good!

Ditto on the plastic tophats. You've come this far why not go all the way. Do it once and do it right! Love the 68 Deluxe Interior!

Mostly because I'm 16 and just got my license and I'm sick and tired of fighting with my parents for the cars. Thanks for the compliments, I guess the seams don't look that bad. Cobra, I'll have to get on AIM and talk soon. Trillian Astra deleted all my connections and I didn't feel like setting it back up =/

I actually have the entire lower cowl so maybe I'll do it eventually, but for right now the plastic hats will have to do. Yeah, Ponyman its alot nicer to see the floors in. Its a little bit more motivating!

That sounds like a great reason to me. As long as the top hats are keeping your feet dry, drive it for a few years and enjoy it before tackling that job. Congrats on getting the floors in. They look great.
