For just about anything--and I really do mean ANYTHING--that you need for your car, you might want to take a run over to Columbus on the Sat after Thanksgiving. There is a huge (1000+ venders IIRC) all-Ford swap meet at the state fair grounds--everything from the big catalog guys to some guy parting out a couple of cars. I would give at least even odds that someone there will have your top trim, or be able to get it for you.

Wow, thanks for all the advice guys. As for the upholstery, the tear in the seat is the only thing wrong with any of the interior seats, where might I look to find a piece that pattern of hounds tooth to match the interior? I saw that trim piece on e-bay the other day but wasn't sure if it was the piece I needed because there are preexisting holes drilled along the vinyl top line along the side and back. I assumed it was like a 5 piece set that had one that ran from 1/4 window to the back of the hood, then one that went over the rise in the back, one that ran flat across the back of the trunk, and same back to the other 1/4 window.

Until very recently you could not get premade upholstery kits with houndstooth for 1970 Mustangs and Cougars. It is being reproduced now in both original colour combos. I don't know who makes the sets (I don't think it's TMI or Distinctive Industries, could be John's Classic Cougars or someone else). I'd call or email West Coast Classic Cougar which sells the sets and find out the source for the sets/fabric. It shouldn't be a problem getting just the fabric as that used to be the only way you could get it. Find out who makes the sets and then contact them directly to get the fabric.

Reason: typo
That looks like a great car. I would have jumped all over it.
There were 2 different trims available for the full-size vinyl top on the 70 Grande, plus the one for the 1/2 (or landau) top. I've actually seen the 1/2 top with the front 1/2 vinyl as well as 1/2 tops with the back 1/2 covered. I wonder if both were available from Ford?
The 1/2 top was standard, and the full top was an extra cost option
The chrome trim shown in the ebay auction that someone linked to is the most common (standard) Grande trim for the full top.
There was also a Western Trim for the full top (pictured in the Mustang Recognition Guide page 178). It is wider than the chrome trim, and has a "floral" design (looks like the old TV shows of the 60's and 70's). Your car might have come with this depending on where it was built and what the original color was. I had read where they were used on cars with Saddle color interior made for sale in the mid-west and west markets.
I have a set of the western trim available (expensive). It is tan in color, but can be painted. I have all of the pieces, and they are in excellent condition. You can email me directly if you have any interest.

I think I paid $3,500 for my first car, a 69 Grande, in 1986, and yours doesn't look any more worn than mine did back then! Great buy, and enjoy your beauty.
