Can I come over and play?
A friend of mine, who I will not embarrass by mentioning his name here, is a member. I've recently been following his posts here and thought I'd become a member so that I could join in on all the fun.
My name is Roger and I used to own a 64 1/2 mustang coupe. My first car. Wish I still had it. I know. What was I thinking. Well I've had many fun cars and someday maybe I'll own another Vintage Mustang. Right now I'm tooling around in another vintage ride. Now don't make me stand in the corner, and have me yell out loud...what was I thinking!
There goes the neighborhood. Is that a British car? Say it ain't so. Yup, I've gone to the dark side. I did a nuts and bolts restoration of a 1964 Austin Healey.
Ok, enough about that.
Let's talk Mustangs!
I've enjoyed reading posts here, and really like this forum. I'm a member of a British Car Forum too. You guys are just as nice over here and a lot easier to understand. Anyone here speak Brit? Windscreen, petrol, wings, tyres, colour, boot, bonnet and fix our cars not with wrenches but spanners. Somebody stop me.
I live in San Leandro CA and drive my Healey everyday. I'm sure there are a lot of guys here who drive their vintage Mustangs everyday too. That is what it's all about, right?
OK, enough of the nice-a-tees. The other day I pulled up to a 68 Mustang Fastback, perfect in every way. We stopped next to each other at the light. As we were waiting for it to turn green, I leaned over and rolled down the passenger window. He watched me and I motioned for him to roll down his. I then looked him straight in his eyes and said in a very convincing mannor....I can take you! I can take you man! Then the silence as he looked at me. Then I said with a big smile...Just give me two blocks.
Cheers,
Roger

Hi Roger!
I'm in Castro Valley. Good to have you here.
Stan
Hi Stan,
Nice photo. Is your car done now?
Do you, or do you plan on showing it at the local shows?
I attend most of the local shows.
Some of the very best shows are in Castro Valley.
One of my favorites is the Redwood Chapel Classic.
One of the shows that does not charge a fee for the car nor the walk in's.
They also provide a full lunch, and provide music. There are 12 judges wearing T-Shirts that say Judge that do the voting. (That way you know who to offer the bribe too.) Later on at the awards, they give out two sets of trophies for each class. 1st, 2nd and 3rd for convertibles and 1st, 2nd and 3rd for hard tops. Wow.
I think the judges liked the compact sports cars this year. The winner:
Being on this Mustang site, I'm sure you guys would've voted for this compact:

welcome to VMF.
...My dad had a 1965 Sprite (1085cc). We had it in our barn and one of the boughs fell on it when the barn collapsed in 98. The only thing that survived was the hood....looking to get him another one for Christmas that he can spend his time on now that we're all out of the house.

My Mustangs don't get chick names. They get horse names.
When Hugh Hefner dies, will anyone actually believe the ubiquitous eulogy statement: "Well, at least he's in a better place"

God, I would hope they do. I think it's a disgrace to the model to bring one back to life and then box it up. It'd be like buying a champion race horse and putting him in a stable to occasionally look at.

Actually Roger is one of the nicest guys around. He is the one that did the LED lights on my Wife's car. What a guy!! Now for the Healey - beautiful car. Too bad the driver can't get good mileage out of it. I mean - 10 MPG around town WTH
Back in the early 60's I was an Autin Healey fan, loved the looks. They added roll up windows which made it practical at some loss of looks.
My dream car was the 55-57 T-Bird. At 6' 6" it was impossible so I found a nice 56 Ford Sunliner (vert). Believe it or not I test drove a new Autin Healey
and I fit right in! It was '63 and Ford was releasing teasers on the comming Mustang. Waited 'til they came out in April 64. Ordered a vert in late May 64.
Been hooked since!

NOS RF fender and left quarter.New top and folding glass.

Hey, that's WTF
Yhea, you'd only get 10mpg if you were blowing off Mustangs too.
OMG, did I just make a lot of friends here?
Ok, to set the record right mister, that's 9 mpg. But highway 19-22. Yhea, there's a problem somewhere, and you know I'm on it. Sent my carbs to a guy in NY. Should be back this week. Then I'll be bragging that I get better milage than a 2010 Prius!
Don't believe maxx242. I'm not one of the nicest guys around, I am THE nicest guy around...and humble.

Hey guys, thanks for being so nice and letting play with you.
I may not own a mustang now, but I did own a 64 1/2.
I look forward to reading the posts.
I may be able to offer some help, for I did a 4 year frame off restoration on the Healey.
Ask me about metal repair, R&R of parts. What it takes to paint the car. Oh and if you can't think of any magical words to help you when you're frustrated putting a part in, I'll share some of them with you. Here's one of my favorites...%#@*
What do our cars have in common?
You can actually work in the engine compartment. Yes you can get your hands and arms down in places you need to. You know, to grab that wrench that you dropped , for the third time!
Cheers,
Roger
