Default Toe Board Install Questions...

So I got the torque box in and now for the toe boards......ummmmm what the heck do I do about the turn down lip that goes toward the rocker side? If I leave it, I can not get the toe board to sit flush on the torque box. If I cut it, should I just bead weld it to the turned up lip of the torque box? The replacement toe board is badly mis-shaped, the indents dont match the torque box indents....BFH to the rescue....LOL

Thanks any advice would be great.

My replacement toe board lip faced down as well, but the original lip faced up. I clamped the board to my workbench, and revesed the lip so it pointed up. I welded the lip of the toe board to the lip of the torque box. Yet another replacement panel that required "minor" adjustments.

strange. my 69 didn't have a on the edge and it was just spot welded to the torque box where they overlapped. the torque box sealed that edge.

i'm probably wrong, but i thought the earlier cars did have the lip down since they didn't have torque boxes

here is a pic of the passenger side of my 69. at the top where the toe board continues up the firewall and above the torque box, the lip begins and folds towards the outside of the car. so there is a small hole that will eventually get filled with seam sealer. the line to the left of the edge of interest is where i had installed a patch. so the right side edge is original metal.

the lip that is folding up and spot welded to the rocker area is the upper torque box.

on the drivers side, i simply trimmed the "lip" off of the edge of the replacement toe board and plug welded it to the torque box. I assumed this lip was wrong for a 69 that had torque boxes since the panel was not correct for 69.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping I wasnt just doing things wrong. I think I will just cut the lip off and weld it to the torque box.

Thanks again
