You may want to get a deluxe Marti report. As an aside it would be neat to find out
if it was Playboy pink special order. A less glamerous possibility
is Mary Kay (cosmetics) pink!
There were no Mary Kay pink Fords until a few years ago. My father tried several times to get her to add Fords to the fleet but she hated Ford. He even arranged to have a Mary Kay pink Lincoln Continental made up and delivered to her. She sent it back. When she was newly divorced and starting out on her own, she tried to get financing at a Ford dealership and they turned her down. She absolutely hated Ford after that. The only reason you might see Fords now is because her son took over the company.

An odd coincidence. The girl at the wheel of my 64 1/2 (sig pic) is my sister. Her name is
Mary Kay!

hey guys thanks for your comments. To clarify though this car is definately a Playboy Pink special edition, as it has been clarified by an official Marti report and all the box sections are pink as sprayed in the factory..
I heard about a guy restoring a pink 69 fastback a few years ago named david laidlaw. one and the same perhaps? At any rate, good luck on the restoration!
That is just weird! lol David Laidlaw is my father and we are still restoring the car.. shouldnt be long till completion so watch this space. How did you know of my dads name and where did you hear that from? curious.. lol

I got the name from somebody who was asking me about marti reports and if they would state a car was "playboy pink" on the marti, if playboy pink was the official factory name, etc. Your car was one of the ones mentioned, while other "blank" color codes have been listed as dusk rose, etc. it's was a technical question on the color, and since your marti had stated specifically "playboy" I was asked, how, why, etc. I just remembered the name, and made a luck guess based off your post i suppose. Good luck with the Resto!
You can call it Playboy Pink, but I would be really surprised if you can find that name in any Ford records or on a Marti Report. With a Utah DSO, it's unlikely Hefner ever owned the car. The fact that it was originally a 6 cylinder does not lend much to the arguement either. An interesting car, but you definelty need to do some research in my opinion. Special paint cars were available every year of production for a small charge. In most cases, these special paint cars did not get formal names, just paint ID numbers. So, naturally people gave them names. This has caused some confusion over the years and the pink cars seem to exemplify this. It is still a cool car- special paint cars rule!
I hate to tell you after the fact but those holes in the front of the shock towers shouldn’t be there. A lot of people drilled them to get to the upper A-arm grease fittings.

Very true, I have yet to find ford records calling the color "playboy", but you can and DO find it listed that way on Marti Reports, largely to differentiate from other shades of special order pink.
for a 1969 Mustang, the only one I've seen that could be traced to playboy was a pink shelby gt500 that was owned by Connie Kreskie. (sp?), so Tracing it to Hef is unlikely, but I won't say impossible just yet.
