It is likely that it won't work. Rotate the crank and see if the pistons pass the top of the bore. Even if it they do not, you may have valve clearance issues once you add heads. You definitely have a mongrel. There are plenty of people out there that misrepresent things, and also those that are just uneducated. If I had a dollar for every time I have seen someone claim 'Hipo' (or my other fave - 'Hipro') when it's just a plain 289 or 302 I would be retired. You will find people associating Hipo with any 289, and Boss with any 302. Best to always be skeptical. What did this assemblage of random parts cost you?
