I think you can buy the longer Shelby quick steer idler arms seperately, so one thing you could do is to cut a stock pitman arm apart and weld it back together with the drag link mounting point further out and up (with some extra steel in between the two ends, obviously). Of course, such a project requires good welding skills.

In the end, everything is fixable, but I thought the Borgeson modified these boxes so that everything lined up correctly, but apparently not. I assume they respline the shaft to fit he Ford pitman arm, so one wonders why they don't make it shorter as well, while they are at it? I guess that requires modifications to the housing that are somehow not possible.

We "custom" assembled the trick pitman arms. You will need far above
average welding and metallurgy skills to accomplish that feat safely.
If a pitman arm fails in operation..... well you get the picture.

I actually repalced my pitman and Idler with shelby cobra style... longer pitman and idler = quicker steering response and installed them on the car we did the Borgesen box in (also did tilt wheel later after i installed the cut down factory steering column). I have not anticipated any problems with bumb or anything else. it all looks as though it should be fine... car not yet on road...

I do remember my "kit" came with a new manual draglink although I had power steering (and still do)..

3 rack systems have been "refitted" to the original PS in the past two years from owners
Simply, they don't want to have a wreck with the cockeyed turning.
