Default Steering Wheel Ideas

Hi guys,

I'm looking for opinions on the steering wheel options that are out there. What size wheel is most common - 13" or 15"? Also what brand is the best? I hear good and bad things about Grant. Pictures and links are welcome.

Cheers

Lee

The garden-variety bottom of the line Grant wheel is a cheesy piece of…

Their expensive wheels are supposed to be better, but that cheap wheel has given the brand a reputation for junk.

The 13" wheel belongs on go-karts. Too small for a real car, I'd consider 14" a minimum for a Mustang.

I have seen the Moto-Lita at Glazier/Nolan. A real piece of handmade artwork.

Snagged one off of Ebay and painted the spokes to go along with the interior theme. Added the Pony to the center myself.

Billet specialities makes a lot of good wheels, expensive, but you get what you pay for. Best wheel is 14" on a mustang or 15" if you like the look of a little larger wheel, 13" way too small.

22GT, I like that wheel. Where did you get it, and what did it cost? Guess they make a standard Mustang horn cap as well? Nice touch with the "Lone Star" shifter knob.

Grant is to steering wheels as Yugo is to automobiles.

I think that 22GT is right - Grant has gotten a bad rep for their cheapo steering wheels, but you get what you pay for. I have their Signature Series and REALLY like it - good solid grip, high quality, very nice looking. It's 15".

Ditto! I love my 14" LeCarra/Moto-Lita. So much easier to get in and out of the car without a 15" wheel. Mine has held up well for 20 years and still looks new.

I like the Moto-Lita best, is that a 14" or a 15"?

Here's my LeCarra:

Sorry bartl, but I had a wooden Grant before this one and it fit great and never had one problem with it.

I have seen them at Glazier/Nolan. There is also an excellent Mustang emblem available for that wheel. IIRC, that wheel runs a little short of $400. If you saw it, you'd know why. That's twice the cost of the cheap Grant, but a lot more than twice the value.
