Hey folks, as the title says im from the Middle East "Bahrain"
And i recently got a empty shell of 1965 mustang, not sure about the year though, it has no interior no engine no transmission and the steering is busted, it will be a long ( and expensive ) project but im willing to do it, the only problem is i cannot find any mustang parts, oldest i can find is a Parts of the third generation mustang

hey. There are loads of online sites to order from. Can you order from them and get them shipped to you?

Sites like, CJ Pony parts, Summit Racing, Mustangs Unlimited, NPD.

The best would be to see how much time and money it is goin to cost you, and see whether it is worth restoring, or just buying one ready!

Alsaffar,

That would be a great project. What is the VIN, that will tell a lot about the car? Parts are very easy to come by and inexpensive. The hard part would be getting them to your side of the world. How about a pic?

Yeah i'd love to see some pics of it. I would second the sites listed above, they should be able to ship to you. Good luck with the project!

Probably be half as expensive to either ship it to the states to someone like Glazier/Nolan and let them take car of it and return it, or just buy one done in the states and have it shipped over.

Well, you can use the engine and transmission of most any later model Ford, up to and about 1989 in cars and 1997 in trucks. I bet there must be a bunch of two wheel drive F150's or F250's with 302's or 351's that would be glad to donate some parts. If you have someone who can shorten a rear end you can use the 8.8" rear from a late 90's Explorer and by welding on perches probably a later model, 85+ Mustang. Same with driveshafts...simply find one with the right flange and shorten.

Bucket seats from most any domestic Ford will bolt in so a later Mustang seat should work, if it's power you may have to drop the power mechanism. I don't think Escort or Contour seats will work. I saw some decent seats in a BroncoII once. You can also, with a bit of modification, use Recaro seats from VW's and Audi's, BMW's, etc.

The rest of the stuff you're pretty much at the mercy of reproduction stuff, like for the front suspension, radiator, interior components, etc.

Good luck.

hey again, here are some pictures of the empty shell :

ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

and i dont prefer ordering parts online "every 1 kg is worth about $12, the shipping would cost more than the parts !"

soo my only solution is to go around and find parts from my country, soo i was wondering if i could use parts from other models like the third generation or even the fourth generation since we have alot of those around here.

AlSaffar,

Talk with Shaun at Street or Track www.streetortrack.com . He has a ton of experience in shipping overseas. Your best bet might be getting all the parts together over here and having everthing bulk shipped to you in a container, should be much more economical that way.

Good look with your project!

Assuming that there are as many Fords in Bahrain as there were in Kuwait you should be able to get your engine and transmission from either a full size ford V8 or V8 Truck. Shop eBay for your body parts. I saw a 6 cylinder 65 Mustang in Fa-heel Kuwait on a used car lot when I was there. It was complete but it was painted purple. Chances are it's still there. You're looks like it had a six cylinder engine in it. I count four lug studs on the wheels hubs on your car.

Hello Tom,
You are correct it has four lug studs ! And engine area is small soo it probably had a 6 cylinder in it, and i was actually thinking of going to Kuwait and Saudi to check parts, i will definitly go check the one in Fa-heel when i go to kuwait !

AlSaffar,

Both the 289 and I6 cars starts their life as the same shell. This is really interesting to me to see how you can get this done. Doing this car in my neck of the woods could take a few months of focused effort. I could buy a parts car for cheap and strip all the needed parts, besides the drive train and seals. I could make this a nice driver, with new paint and used engine/trans for $6-$8k (I've done lots of cars and know my numbers) I just don't see how this could be done economically on the other side of the world, thus my interest on how you go about getting the parts and information you need to complete the job, without spending a fortune.

Man, that's a lot of work ahead but if your up for it, it will be fun to watch. The good news is you don't have to worry about export control on the parts
