Was that the same 66 convert Stan rented to Redford for the movie? I can imagine the blood pressure there!
Rick has some really nice cars in the museum, but like he said, he ocasionally drives some of them. They are time capsules and there are some that need to be, to preserve the history. My thing is the generic mustang that really doesn't have a "pedigree' and it should be enjoyed. I had a 65 K-GT convert that was a Grand Nat winner and I put 10,000 miles/ year on it. It was one that really needed perserving, and since it was hit twice by drunks, I finally sold it. But I sure had fun driving it for 3 years! (Both times they thought they could out run it and get away!)
There's good and not-so-good in every organization, buit there have been some super people in MCA that have gone miles to help out the Pony Drive. Bill Johnson (MCA Pres) was my biggest help in preparing for 04 and nudged a lot of clubs into doing events for us. He is also a big fan of driving and knew that was what our goal was.
Just overlook some of the silliness and portions you don't care for, get out and join your friends in your chosen hobby, and help keep it alive.

This has been a twisting and turning thread. SWMBO still has t-shirts from the 35th and 40th anniversaries. I mentioned the 50th and she was very enthused. Until I mentioned it would be Easter weekend. Not going. Saturday there are some egg hunting events and Sunday is more of the same and dinner at grandma's. She is grandma so obviously a car show isn't in the picture. I imagine a lot of other folks will be forced to choose between family and car show and the show will lose. Seems to me a mistake to focus on such a schedule solely so somebody can get on a microphone and say "On this day, 50 years ago..yadda, yadda." I've been a Mustang fan for many years and neither know or care about the exact date the first was made, sold, introduced, whatever. We tend to celebrate kids' birthdays on weekends so they can have a better party, no matter their birthday actually falls on a weekday. Nobody seems to mind and it works very well.
I would like to attend a celebration of Mustang's 50th birthday though. Perhaps Ford will schedule something that doesn't conflict with a national holiday.
Don't forget, the show is for four days, not just Saturday and Sunday.

I wasn't aware of that at all. If it goes anything like the Charlotte Autofair then Thursday is pretty much too early and only a good day for those attending all four days. Friday is pretty good. Saturday people are off work and the whole place goes ballistic. Then most people go home and Sunday is pretty much just cleanup. Taking Friday off work to attend will probably work for us then, so we can go. Good. Still doesn't seem terribly well thought out though. I'm guessing you'll be working the show closer to home.
Without reading the whole thread (yeah, I'm lazy) where is the one in Charlotte gonna be?

That is pretty much spot on from what I have seen as well.
Unless you are a vender Thursday is kinda a waste, but Friday is pretty good for parts hunting as most venders have their stuff already set up, so if there is any deals you can usually get them on Friday.
I got a vender spot at the 45th show, and it was the best thing I ever did. As we got a pass for the whole weekend, and always had a spot to go rest out of the sun when we got tired. Plus I was able to clean out my garage a bit in the process.

I would say that everyone has their own valid comments, and the comments are relative to their own position and opinions and I will in no way contest anyone's view points.
I would gladly pay the 'entrance' fees to be able to attend with my car if only the shows would be in the northeast. I don't have a trailer nor the proper vehicle to pull it to haul my car the distance. and I'd rather put all the money into another Mustang instead.
I would welcome a show of these calipers in my area and would gladly pay the price to attend. The local AACA club used to have a nice show, but they stopped a few years ago, all the shows here are not properly judged in the manner as MCA or AACA. So I say go, pay the price, and be thankful to be able to attend the shows. I'll be thinking of all of those who do and can. Enjoy. Dudley
