Default roller non roller mix

I have been having a on going issue.
I cant keep the lifters "adjusted". My idle is rough but on the freeway she runs well.
Today i tried to adjust the lifters again. I had tapping and slow oil pressure rise. Once oil pressure rises the tapping gets better.
While adjusting lifters I was
'bottoming" out the nut on a few cylinders. This time i was adjusting with out the motor running , last time I adjusted with the engine running.
When I fired it up it was louder. I quickly shut it down.
I noticed the rockers had a mix of slotted and round oil holes. after running a search I think thats wrong!
I have owned her around a year. This is what i think I know. Body 65 a code - C4 67 trans - Block 67 289 - Intake , accessories 65 - Heads 76 or 77. a real mutt.
Do i have to swap rocker to non rollers? Could this be most of my problem

what you have said about the oil pressure leads me to believe there aint enough oil pressure. how many miles are on the engine ? what is the weight of the oil ? can you post fotos of the rockers ? what is the date code on the heads ?

Besides what Supershifter says I'm thinking you may have a wiped cam. The heads if they are 76's should use the rail style rockers. In 77, Ford switched to the newer stamped steel bolt down rockers but my dad bought a new 77 302 Granada which was a very early 77 that I think used a left over 76 302 long block because when I did a valve job, it had the cast steel rail rockers. I think possible your nuts may be worn out not holding adjustment.

BTW the 76 heads are much better then the 77 heads which had huge 69 CC chambers and really horrible exhaust ports.

Sorry it took so long to reply.
Any way , oil is 10-30 [1500 to 2000 miles
"old"] , mileage is unknown , date code is 6d28 and it has the small spark plugs @ a 45 deg angle.
I backed off the nuts let it sit for 1/2 hour readjusted. Then I adjusted with the engine running. It runs much better. the oil pressure rises to "normal" but slowly at first.
I did a big dummy thing. While searching rocker arms I thought the oil holes in the arm identified rail [not roller] from non rail rockers. She has a mix of square holes and round oil holes.
It still seems like there is too much thread above the nuts [3/4 in] but it is what it is.
Thanks for the replies and you help
