Default My 68 Fastback

My dream is to one dayt own a 68 1/2 Cobra Jet Car. I probably will never have enough money to afford one. So I am making my 68 look like one for the Nostalgia Drags. Until I can afford to redo my car, I am going to have some fun with it at the Drag Strip.

Thanks. I am looking to put a 408 stroker in it eventually. I am running a 302 in it right now. Sounds like a big block car.

That is a great sound!

I get asked if mine is a big block a lot and all I have is a mild cam and a set of flomaster 40's.

Car looks great btw.

Thanks. I have flowmasters on my car but do not have the exhaust hooked up yet. They are supposed to be 2 chamber but don't really know. They do sound awesome though. The car came with this engine and exhaust. The only thing I changed was from HiPo exhaust Manifolds to Hooker Competition Headers.

Who did the graphics on your car? It does sound good.
I've owned two 68.5 CJ mustangs. The first one was in the 1980's and was my first attempt at a "restoration". I drove that car for 10 years before trading it off. The second one was a 16K mile car that had spent it's whole life on a drag strip. No drivetrain but no rust. Had to sell that one when I got divorced and lost my garage. Sure wish I still had em both.
Funny thing, when I bought my second one there was another sitting beside it in the PO's garage. I asked about it and he told me it was one of the original 50 lightweight CJ cars, I think he said it was Dyno Don Nicholsons. It had been fully tubbed and had a bunch of modifications to it but I could have bought it for a very reasonable price, too bad it was still just a bit out of my price range. Woulda, shoulda, coulda.

My wife did the Graphics on my car. I would love to have an original CJ car but don't see myself ever being able to afford one. After I get my garage built, I am going to buy a Mustang II or a Pinto Drag car. I would like to be able to enjoy this one a little more than just at the Drag Strip.

Thanks. My wife can draw anything from a picture. The Cobra Jet picture she copied from was about 4x6. The only thing we didn't have was a picture of the Burns Ford Drag car. When I finish the car we are gonna try and get that correct.

Awesome fastback, your wife did a killer job on the graphics! I would be mighty proud to drive that baby around! Enjoy.

Thanks, I was going to take it to a Rod Run tonight for it's debut but it got rained out. I guess now it won't make it's debut until next week at the Nostalgia Drags. We still have a few things to finish on it. I have a set of Cragars to put on the front. I also just got my 15x8 OEM wheels from wheel Vintiques today. I still have to paint them Wimbleton White and have my 26x9.5 Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT's mounted.

Here is a video from last year of me beating my friend in his Fomaro. It is a 68 Camaro with a 351W, top loader 4 speed and 9 inch rear.

I got my slicks and my new rims on today. Now it looks more like a CJ car.
