For sale on Craigs List. One absolutely "munted" 66. Supposedly used in that Katy Perry music video "The one that got away". I really hope this car wasn't smashed up just for that .
Could be. Smashing a $30,000 car would be a small item in production cost.
In Tom Cruise' War of the Worlds, a 66 GT350 is prominently featured. It does NOT get smashed on camera. It was real, and needed to be returned intact.

I imagine Hollywood sees these cars as disposable props. Hey, whatever can make them a dollar they'll probably do it. No matter how much American history they destroy and toss to the side.

That is a shame when perfectly good Mustangs get destroyed,I'm surprised no one has discussed the nice ones that were bought by Ford a bunch of years back and sent through the crash test tunnels. This was at the time of the big exploding gas tank 60 minute stuff. A bunch of nice ones got wrecked then.
Yeah, they drove it off a cliff in the video. Looks to be the same car. I wouldn't call that a $30k car though. It was probably a $5000 car.
They supposedly destroyed a GT350H in a Guns N' Roses video once. Same thing, drove it off a cliff. However, the car Slash is driving has Torq Thrusts and just as the car goes over the cliff it looks like a wheel cover pops off, so perhaps it was a fastback painted to look like the real thing.
The car in the video has tri bar knock offs on the hubcaps, and the one he is selling just has the standard '66 hubcaps. Also the one he is driving is a black interior car. you can see him pull down a black sunvisor. In the sellers pictures you can see 2 blue sunvisors hanging down. This may be the car they launched off of the cliff, but it isn't the car they show him driving.
The location is about correct (Pasadena) near the movie lots. If the video was filmed around Hollywood, this would be about right, as the car was probably toast after the filming. I would question why anyone would smash up a car just to sell parts as coming from a Katy Perry Video. That is some heavy duty smash on that car.
On a side note, when I lived in that area, in the Pic' A Part in Sun Valley, near Hollywood, there were, IIRC over 15 blue 65 66 coupes in a row for scrap, that had been in some movie. Some of them had roof or side parts cut away for filming, and many looked like they had been painted with a brush. The sides of some of them were not even painted much as the other side had been cut away for interior shots.
They lasted a couple weeks then crushed. This was around 1990, and there were always several 65 66 Mustangs fresh on the scrap line every week.
One week, I followed a COMPLETE S code Fastback being carried on the fork lift to it's pick a part spot. Took everything I could that I had cash for that day. The next day, it was bones.
i was wondering the same thing about the 67-68 tails and the 66 that buddy was driving, but i figgured i was imagining things untill some of you guys brought it up to.
just noticed that at 4:09 the car she's driving looks like its got the 65/66 side scoops but i could be wrong.

crashing these cars for movies and music vids makes me sad . we should put as many of these old cars back on the road where they belong . they should smash up the newer mustangs . or better yet imports .
On a side issue..... poor old Katy Perry hasn't aged well at all has she? The song talks about "making out in his Mustang to Radiohead". Radiohead was a 90's band.
