Grin Drive Shaft Questions?

I have rebuilt the engine, transmission, interior, and restored the whole car. (a '67 coupe) I need to replace the driveshaft --- Should I buy an aluminum drive line or a steel one that's cheaper? Will the aluminum drive shaft add to the car? I will be driving it across country ( Michigan or Florida) eventually. Thank you for all everyone has done in helping me restore this coupe. At 74 I could not have completed this project without VMF help. Bill Palmer

I think the advantage of aluminum vs. steel is the weight difference, someone please chime in if I'm wrong. As long as it's balanced well, I don't think you'll see a difference for how you will be driving it.

Exactly...if you want to give up some $ for an AL unit so soomeone can lay under the car and look at it, sure, it's cool, but it will make no difference in the way the car perfomrs!

if your going at high speeds the aluminum is a bit easier to work with. being lighter it will not have as much of a whip effect at high speeds. crown vic police cars come with an aluminum drive shaft because the standard steel shaft has to much centrifugal force at high speeds. it really only comes into play at around 100 miles per hour

The driveshaft length from the explorers, yes it's aluminum, is only the right length from the V6s... the V8s are too short I believe.
