Default late model inline six head questions

okay, so im getting a late model log head from my machine shop because ive brought in two cracked ones already and im soooooooo tired of seeing the stang sitting there being undriven I still need to get the carb spacer thing that goes between the carb and the intake bore. my question is, can i use my carb that i have that i used on my 65 head, its a holley 1940 service replacement carb, its a good carb too. or do i need a carb with a larger bore? the holley is meant for the smaller bore head. i hope im providing enough info

It should work as long as the bore opening on the carb is smaller than the intake bore. Your new intake should be just under a 1 3/4 bore and your carb should be 1 1/2.

But if you are thinking carb upgrade in the future I would have the intake machined for the two barrel since it is off already. You will get significant hp and tq increase. Check out classic inlines tech info. Yes I just recently did all of this research....I have the weber 38/38 on the way!
