Don't always trust what they say. Make sure you see it in person and look it over very carefully. In my opinion a 67 with power discs up front that runs decent is well worth $4000 if the body isnt too bad.

yeah it's just a bad design. So what's the fix? Tear the cowl apart and replace it huh? Not sure I have the skill to do that yet. Did ford have drain tubs in the cowl area? If not do guys install such a thing?

It didn't take much to stop up the drain holes, many posters have stated that this area wasn't even painted when new. Gotta remember that the Mustang was NEVER meant to be a car that would still be around 50 years after its introduction, it was just cheap, sporty, reliable transportation for the masses; much newer version of the Model T.

The body is horrible. Bondo cracks everywhere. Steering is all screwed up as well.

Again,...remember that these are 50 year old, well worn cars, not ever meant to last this long, Steering is all screwed up as well, is to be expected, as are rusty cowls and many other problems inherent to the Rustang.

Don't give up,..keep looking, the more crapolas that you look at will make you really appreciate the nice ones.

Guys is there some special Graigs list etiquette? I have one guy that hasn't replied to my emails asking about coming to see the car and thats it. No phone# to call.
Another where I had a great form of comunication and then they answered every other question. I was clear with them I needed to know a few key details before I drive over 200 miles to see their car.

The way I look at it is this. If I was selling a car I would post many pictures and list all the details. Some of these guys take dark pictures and say nothing.

Then I have noticed that if the asking price is over $9000 there's lots of info and great pics. Some people seem to be hiding problems on these cars. The thing is if I go look at the car Im going to see these issues and walk. Now I have not only wasted my time but the sellers as well. Needless to say Im fustraded. With all this said I do understand why some sellers asking $4000+ for a car don't want to bother with the details. I feel they think what do you want for only $4000? Im not looking for a prefect car just a decent platform to work with.

When I was browsing CL for a car to buy, I averaged about 40% response on my inquiries.
I always wondered why people would go through the effort of listing a car and then not respond to a legitimate inquiry from someone actually interested in buying their car.

Great so its normal to be blown off. Where else can I find a car? Recycler and auto trader are useless around here. CL seems to have the best list so far. Looking for help here guys.

patience my friend, that money is burning a hole in your pocket....you are going about it the right way, and as the months go by you will find a decent car. it is better to keep saving up and buy the best car you can rather than settle for the cars you've inspected so far. have you contacted any of the mustang clubs to let em know your looking? maybe a member knows of a car not really advertised?

Very wise words Sir. I guess I'll just lay low for now. Maybe after taxes I will find something awesome. I was thinking about making a 67 GTA a priortity. Power steering, power disc brakes the whole 9 yards.

Really wanted to be part of this comunity and without a car I feel like an outsider you know. Well it wont be too long I hope.

Thanks

Still no luck. Only good thing about taking a long time is I will have more money to spend when I do find a nice car. So far I have pretty much given up on finding a car for under 5000. It appears that the cars that are any good are around 9-10 grand.
