The 67 Coupe was supposed to be done and painted by the end of june, but it is still in the body shop. Not all the shops fault as I decided, after the primer went on, to shave all the emblems and have the holes welded shut. But it is being jammed out this week and the rest should have color on it by mid sept. then a couple of weeks later the stripes will go on, then clear over all of it. I have a ton of pics, they are just on my phone, so as soon as I get them onto Photbucket I will post them here.
By the end of Sept., I was supposed to have the painted car back, Front discs installed, new wheels (still trying to pick out the right ones, offset, width), front suspension, rear springs, pan hard, and exhaust. Looks like that will be my winter project now... HAHA!
On a different note, I have all the emblems, letters, etc. off of it. If anyone needs them, hit me up!
Here is a few pics. From bare metal to ready for color... I have a ton more, I will add a link to my photo bucket page for those who have time to cruz through them. http://s285.photobucket.com/albums/l...78/Snapbucket/
Notice how out of wack this whole fender, or tail end for that matter. My great aunt "just touched" a silverado during the 90s with it.
How will I ever know what it is now? Is it a pinto? haha! Grandpa is starting to come aroundt to the "shaved" look, after a few car shows this summer. Its been a hard sale, though...
Oh, look at that! After we jacked, heated, cut, jimmied, and cussed! it turned out so nice...
and now, taking it apart, again, to move into the booth and get all jammed out.
WooWee! The painter just texted over some pics of the color going on the jambs! It looks perfect, altho the pics are cruddy cell phone pics. But you get to see the color! Finally a huge step forward! the color is finally going on! Dark Gray pepper metalic! Thank you, builders of the Original Eleanor! For this amazing, best on a mustang, color!
Sooper! Note my shaved 68 vert, yes the M U S T A N G letters are shaved off the trunk lid.
Did it to my 64 1/2 vert when it was less than 6 months old!
You aren't alone!

Yes, I know how to spell super.

Hey, I'm a grandpa. The vintage Mustang is one of the most recognizable autos of all time IMO. I'd be interested to find out what % of people don't recognize an early Mustang 'til they see the ponies and the word.
Today's generation of Mustang is also obviously a Mustang. Many model years after the Mustang II a person had no idea what it was 'til they saw the pony! JMO
I am soooo Pumped! I dont think I have been more excited about one thing (outside of our wedding day.....) Its going to be great working with grandpa again, putting another "old ford" together. We have already done a 54 F-100 and 69 mustang "Colorado Deluxe". But with his age and health, this may be his last car he can physically help put together. So it is going to be special to the family also. Everyone should have projects like this! It's more than a just a money pit!

Exactly what I'm thought until I saw a pic of the 2015 Mustang - Once again nobody will know what it is.

Just a few months ago I was filling up my stone stock appearing 67 Fastback. Someone was driving down the road and turned around to pull into the station and asked me "what year, make, and model is that?" To which I replied "it is a 67" Not until later did it dawn on me this guy who went a little out of his way to ask about the car did not realize it was a Mustang.

Ugh! I saw it on FaceBook the other day. Ford "shared" it with me, and I threw up in my mouth.... It looks like a MR. Bitchy, Eclipse! and now there is talk of eco boost 6 cylinder and IRS. thats great if your building a 2 door fusion or taurus, but not a Stang! whew! now off of my soap box for the day...

Ford has always had their share of "forward thinkers". We can go high tech but we gotta shake old images! Sometimes those young forward thinking managers just don't get it.
You can make it handle like a Ferrari, get 40 mpg and have ABS and 5 airbags. It's gotta be rear wheel drive and look like a Mustang not a Honda or Toyota!
As one of the original early Mustang buyers I was given a sneak peek at the proposed new Mustang many years ago. It was the Probe. They just didn't get it, a front wheel drive re styled Honda couldn't be Ford's image car!

Hope they have second thoughts like with the Probe!
Car people who buy Mustangs AREN'T rice eaters!
You'd think they would get it, for 50 years. The Mustang
has been Ford's image car. A me too Honda or Toy is not
gonna get it done! Hey we can get a Korean or Taiwan
car for less that performs as well, we want a Mustang!

Agreed! Don't fix it if it ain't broke! The last time the "fixed" it we got the mustang II..
I had no idea the Probe ever was supposed to be a replacement for the Mustang. My sister n law had a Probe GT with I think it was the Yamaha motor, it was the last body style before they dropped the model. Actually was a really fun car to beat on, but no Mustang at all.
