Herer ya go...........I don't have the Lincoln space saver yet so I hope it will still fit, if not, I'll move the sub over to the driver's side.
Thanks for posting the pics. Funny thing how much goals vary. I've seen coupes with carpeted trunk and custom sub woofer built in with 2-12" subs and 500 watt amp. Ya think that set up can be heard by the driver and passengers?
Hey I just want the lower end rounded off when listening to country, folk tunes or some jazz. No interest in competing with the local sub woofer blasting contest!
This awakened interest caused me to pull out my Radio Shack in dash receiver and try the aux connector/lead that's been hidden for years. Plugged in an aux cable to the good old Walkman CD player, plopped on a Willie Nelson CD and WOW! Maybe I'll get with the 21st century and get an i-Pod! Now I'm fired up again to get the Bazooka!

Sounds like our interests are quite similar as we just wanted to add some of the bass that was lacking. Still amazed at how much bass it produces even at have setting on the tube. time will tell but, should we need it once we get it out onthe road next year, it will be there.

I think you wil be happy with the Bazooka--I'm biased though.
I'll take a measure under the buckets and let you know how much room we have.
I was challenging bartl not you! Hey I'm 6'6" if there was that much room I'd lower the bucket!!

I went to an audio shop and told them that I dislike systems that sound like they have a lot of bass, but all the bass notes sound exactly the same, which is a common problem with the bazooka style systems. They play one tone really well, but other notes in the music kind of get smooshed over to that same strong tone.
They said the problem is the open top, which makes it hard to provide enough sound to hear good bass. My son plays tuba and electric bass, so we are kind of into hearing the actual notes at the low end.
All Pro Audio made me a custom box with two 10" JL drivers powered by a 500W amp (sorry I don't recall the make/model).
Here's a crappy picture during the install. Look carefully between the drivers for the special treat!
Up front they housed Morel Tempo components in customized kick panels.
The sounds still comes from the Custom Autosounds head unit (the weakest part of the system...). The sound is pretty nice.

VERY slick looking--I love it. Doesn't look like you gave up much trunk space. That's what I would of wanted to have built. Who know's, if the Bazooka doesn't give me the sound I want on the road, I may go with a set up like yours. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of $$ do you have in it??

I think I've suppressed the memory, but IIRC it was about $1,800 for the package. Those are SF Bay Area dollars, so similar work may well be available for much less in other parts of the U.S.

Ouch. Nice work though. In my case (if I did go that route) I would of already had the head unit and amp and would make the box ourselves.
I just recalled that I also had some other minor work done on two of our other cars on that job, so that wasn't all for the Mustang, but I don't recall the split.
BTW, if you have anything loose in the car, this WILL show it off...

N argument. Before stereo was the word for a sound system...hey stereo just means left and right, nothing about quality, high fidelity was the ideal, the goal.
The idea was to reproduce accurately the sound at each frequency from 20 to 20,000 hz.
A system maybe could reproduce sound throughout that frequency range but be up and down all over the map. The widely inaccurate system may have been $200. An accurate system went for over $10,000. Before powered sub woofers a system that gave solid sound in the 30-60 hz range often used 36" woofers, in a highly refined heavy cabinet. These things were about $1000 each, 1960 $, that would be over $10,000 each today!
By the way the listening room was an is still a big part of the experienced sound.

Absolutely, and a '60s Mustang without a roof is NOT a soundstage! Very tough to make a full, clean sound. Fortunately, we've usually got other things to entertain us when we're in them!
Infinity is good for sound quality, it won't beat the car apart but you'll pick up some low end. In a convertible it really depends where you mount it, where you have it firing etc. my tacoma is a sound quality ride, focal speakers all around and a morel ultimo sub. I have always liked infinity's replication of bass it sounds very natural like an instrument not a just raw bass note.
