Question what best performance wise crank case ventilation method you use?

I had a individually filtered ventilated crankcase but today I found for a dollar in Autozone the ported version that hooks in the back of the carb filter

I found that individual is a lil restrictive and does not filter effective because it only uses a mesh.

is it wise to use the carb filter for CV?

Are you talking about the fresh air inlet for a closed system PCV? Ford used no filter at all on some models, others had the tube connected to use air filtered by the air cleaner filter. The little filter for the breather didn't start until, I think, 1971.

Moroso makes a crank case evac system that works really well, it is a little more expensive than a filter but it uses the exhaust to pull air from the crank case

I have always been a bit confused about how to best set my cars up for CC venting. I see lots of cars with filters on the valve covers. I usually run a PCV valve, but am really not sure how you don't end up with vac leaks when the PCV is plumbed into the Int manifold or the carb baseplate like on some models.

Short answer is you have a vacuum leak but the carb is jetted and tuned to compensate for it.

I have the car filter in the valve cover but it smells when I drive with my windows down, the moroso has check valves so the air just goes thru the mufflers, it makes sense prolly Ill hook one of those

Your rings will seal better and it'll probably make a few more ponies with the moroso stuff. Plus it looks bad ***.

I don't see why it wouldn't benefit from it. Crank covers?

The moroso setup isn't really intended for street cars with mufflers...The vaccum at anything less than full throttle might not be enough to do the job..Also do you want oil and blowby gunk collecting in your hot mufflers?....A pcv valve on one side and an open breather on the other side should be enough to control your fumes..
