Just bought this along with their stainless hood pin. I am not one to spout off and complain on this forum, but I thought those who would be interested should see what the fitment on this piece looks like. As you can see, it is not molded from the original and shows any scars that may be hiding under the old latch. Not sure why they just would use the original design
There are a few parts that SD is licensed by Ford to produce...thos parts are nice, the rest, well, I am not nor have I been impressed with most of the SD product line, nor have I used those on my car duringt eh past 20+ years.
I'm gonna go pull mine of now and see if I can use it.

I think it would be fine if someone hadn't screwed the edge distance on that hole. You could've cleaned up the paint on the hood and it would've looked fine. Shotty craftsmanship.

Because stainless steel, with very different properties, does not form the same as carbon steel. Stamping, which is how this part was made, not moulded, stainless will yield different results. Your hood should have been white under the old latch. The OE safety loop was not stainless, so it is not a stock part, anyway.

I'm sure it was white at some point but I'm certain I'm not the only one here that could remove their latch and find a few nasty chips or something from a latch being removed and replaced several times throughout the years.
Usually have good luck with Drake's parts. However, you have a valid point.
I do as well. This is the one of first parts I have bought of theirs that did not work. Overall, great products. Again, I'm not complaining just to complain, just wanted to point this out.
I took mine off, cleaned it up, then re-phosphated and oiled both it and the pin. Looks good enough for me. Dollars to donuts that Chinese "stainless" starts to pit and rust, especially where it rubs on the latch hook.
Replaced
Full floor pan
Firewall
Full cowl
Radiator support
Up next:
Shelby drop, 4 wheel drum to disc conversion, rebuild front suspension/steering, taillight panel, trunk floor,302 and AOD upgrade, wiring harnesses back in, and hopefully only patch panels on the quarters

As tough as powdercoating is, it will still wear off where the metal-to-metal contact occurs on the latch. It will take longer than paint to wear away, but it will still happen eventually.

i bought one-- it looks nice enough __ didnt notice that as the hood was new and painted fresh so nothing to cover up..
i decided on the shelby hood pins and just eliminated the latch because i didnt want the safety getting scratches over time and no matter what you choose - whether stainless- powder coat or zinc plating etc theyre all gonna mark over time-- and with rubber bumpers on the hood pins there is no hood play so no reason for the latch.. so i opted for 65 shelby style-- eventually i will get the undercover innovations trim --
as i already had a friend lean in and bend the top of the grill as there is nothing keeping it there in the center-- so its something to be aware of..

Yup, I have the hood hinges to prove it.
Fonebooth! Were your knock offs on your wheels backordered like mine? I had to wait 4 weeks.
