I agree with frdnut. I had wheel hop in mine a few years ago and remedied it with new shocks. Driver's side shock was shot. This was before new leaf springs too.....I had the original leafs in there and with new shocks even if I dumped the clutch, no wheelhop.

Competition Engineering Slide A Link traction bars here. Love them Very adjustable and they have a bushing in the middle to absord some of the shock loads.

4 1/2 leaf mid eye springs and Traction Masters, no hop but plenty of wheel spin. I would guess hop could occur if I had stickier tires than the BFG T/A's.
I went with TM's, real ones, not the cheaper fakes. Balanced, blueprinted, port-matched 289HP. Zero wheel hop. I keep hearing about "bind", but in over 200,000 street miles, and some autocrossing, I have yet to see any.

How do the Caltracs work on the street? Car will have shelby drop on frt and rear lowered to match ride height.
How do they ride/work on the street and any ground clearance issues?
Any one have photos from the side ?

I never had wheel hop, until the first time, I went to the drag strip.
5 leaf springs, HD rear shackles, Bilstein shocks, and classic under-rider traction bars.
Snapped the pinion off, 30 feet off the line, and leaked gear oil all over the track.
My choices were caltracs, or slidalinks.
I chose caltracs based on my lowering springs. Service and communication were great.
I drive the car on the street and road course and love the caltracs. Before I go to the drag strip the next time, I have to reinforce the perches.
It depends on how much horsepower you are running.
BTW the car corners better with the caltracs. Much more precise without the rubber bushing slop of the under-riders, and you can adjust the preload.
I greased them up with white grease. I don't notice much noise over the engine noise
BTW the rubber front bushing in the spring is replaced with a solid aluminum one.
Go through your suspension package as a whole, starting with the springs.
Good lord i have a ton of options. so first off i am putting in an original set of leaf springs, with all new bushings to replace my old, sagging, and worn out lowering springs that came on the car when i got it, along with the old bushings. For shocks i have a good new set of KYB's all around. Nothing to crazy but they are good. So as of now i am leaning towards getting the maier 165 leaf springs, or keeping my new (too me) set of leaf springs and putting on a set of Caltracs but im not sure what to do. my motor is a 302, flat top pistons, 351W heads, mild crane cam, edelbrock torquer, holley 650, all MSD ignition, long tubes and X-pipe to flowmasters. which is all backed up by a top loader 4 speed. I'm just really unsure on what to do here
This is a question of extremes in order to find the limits of under riders. How extreme is your car?
With a 5 leaf setup and a simple set of under rider traction bars my 400 RWHP 65 has never had wheel hop through an AOD. I did however blow the driver side bushing out at the drag strip after running an 11.8 on 275 drag radials (took 4 years and many passes before the bushing blew out).
just curious, but what motor are you running in you 65 Your looks exactly like mine........just with much better paint

Just get a set of clatracs and use the new to you springs and see how that does.

If you have KYB GasAdjusts you will probably have wheel hop, as well as a harsh ride. I used Maier springs with the KYBs and had terrible wheel hop. I switched to their Bilsteins and it was gone (and the ride was much better).
