Default "The Tachman" - Incorrect Rumor

I was told of a post on here that may have since been removed...

Apparently there is a rumor floating about that "The Tachman" aka H&H Auto is going out of business. I speak with Gary (The Tachman) often, and I can assure everyone, this rumor is completely FALSE.

H&H Auto is running as busy as ever, so no worries for those of you needing Gary's services.

Gary, as I recall the thread someone wanted their rally pac fixed/rebuilt and heard you aren't doing them any more.

Soon it became you don't do repairs any more!

One of your satisfied customers.

Took a look at Tachman's web site. Wow, he really does some incredible work with the resurfacing of gauges, and great pricing to boot!
Just wish he could reface my '66 factory gauges in white and swap the amp meter for a volt gauge. And install one of the Cobra emblems on the speedometer.
Maybe I'll shoot him an email, even though he doesn't list '66 gauge work.

I'm curious as to why one wouldn't repair 65-66 tachs, but only 67-70. What about 71-73?

No more parts available for the Rally Packs. Really small tachs, regular parts won't fit.

Are the Rally Pacs still being reproduced as a whole unit? I'd like to have one some day.

Yes! Check your favorite vendor. Actually easier to wire up than stock too.

What actually goes wrong with the RP tach if you hook it up incorrectly (direct wire to coil)? I believe the previous owner may have done that as it doesn't work and was disconnected when I bought the car.

Ford vintage factory tach is wired in series with the + lead to the coil. If you blow the tach the engine won't run. Bipass the tach and the engine runs again.

"swap the amp meter for a volt gauge."

Rocketman sells this exact item.

I know that, but what actually happens to the Tach, and how do you fix the Tach?
