Default are the repro gas caps worth a darn?

See two versions of them on CJPP...one is a Scott Drake, the other doesn't seem to have a brand name attached to it.

Are these worth a darn? I seem to remember reading something about people's gas caps not venting properly or something....

Totally agree. Worked like a charm.

Try a search. I believe there was a post about a problem with some of the Scott Drake units, but one of their reps were looking into it and may have identified the defective units.

Are gas caps on vintage Mustangs not supposed to be tight enough to prevent fuel leaking out if going up-hill with a full tank? I live on a hill and noticed fuel leaking out, so I've been looking for a new gas cap. Did I wasted my time then?

I had one of the defective Drake caps, my local vendor exchanged it with no problem. You'll know if you end up with one, since it's assembled backwards- it'll fit loose enough that it'll threaten to fall off if you hit a bump.

It's a very nice looking piece, and once it was exchanged I couldn't be happier with it.

I use a 71 Mach 1 cap repop, I don't think it vents now that I think about it.

I had a SD cap on my 65 and after 3 years the plastic got all spider-web cracked and moisture got behind it.
