I went a similar route when I was putting carpet in my hudson. I purchased the ceramic microspheres paint additive from Hy-tek and mixed it with a can of rustoleum and rolled it on. It reduced the heat from my headers quite a bit.

DON'T use Rhino unless you want to cover your sins. Anyone who looks at the car will ask what are you hiding that you put that crap in it. It is a blessing that will not come to the body shop.

I was more concerned with the heat than sound since the car doesn't have an aggressive exhaust. I only rolled on three coats and it did help with the heat.
