Default Fenders: Metal vs Fiberglass

Is there any advantage to fiberglass front fenders? Weight? Repair when necessary? I've read where the metal fenders can be a bit frustrating to get properly aligned. Do the fiberglass ones have the same issues? Better or worse? I definitely need one fender, but the other is okay. Thanks.

Absolutely go with metal. Fiberglass is WAY worse when it comes to fitment then metal is. Really the only reason to go with fiberglass is 1) Race car that can't spare 8 pounds or 2) to get pieces that were never made in metal (I believe shelby front ends are fiberglass. At least some of them)

Really good fiberglass has 2-4 times the tolerance spread of poor steel. Plus warp, waviness and variation as it cures. Look closely at a 67 or 68 Shelby fit of the hood. They spent hours getting the production ones even reasonably close.

+2, not to mention that a well placed solid object, especially when it's cold, will shred 'glass.

I can't even begin to imagine the fitment of FG fenders..

That being said, I guess it's a lot easier to modify them!

Thin fiberglass has its place, where weight is a concern, but cosmetics are not.
