Default Which trunk weatherstrip to use on a 65 fastback?

NPD lists two different ones:

43720-1A "U shaped profile"

43720-2A "trapezoidal profile"

Which one is correct?
Which one is made by Daniel Carpenter?
From the other post seems that the DC is the way to go.

My Daniel Carpenter is U shaped. Not sure of the brand NPD sells, look up user 69bossnine and ask him.
When I went shopping for mine, I looked for a vendor that advertised the DC brand.

Thumbup w/s

CARPENTER! I know what they do to research their w/s and they are finnicky about perfection, unless you use Drake. Their's is excellent as well. Drake started with the trunk w/s and built from there!

In a previous thread, it was cleared up that even Carpenter has 2 versions. To get the desired results you MUST get the Daniel Carpenter ones that are Made in America.
69boss9 cleared it up and told us what to order.

The conclusion was that NOS ones are stiff and make the deck lid sit 1/4" high. The soft spongy American made Carpenters don't do that.

I made the mistake of NOT getting DC the first time. I didn't realize there was a difference. I had to pull it all off and replace with DC because the trunk was way too high on the other. Cheap enough mistake but avoid anything but DC if you can.

To be honest, I don't have an authoritative "this goes here, that goes there" answer on u-shaped vs. trapezoidal for fastbacks. My Ford Project Manager could probably construct a helpful answer and guide, but he'll not be in until Monday. Our system basically says that "most" 65-66 fastbacks were fitted with the 43720-1A U-shaped, and that "some" 65-66 fastbacks and "all" 67-68 fastbacks used the trapezoidal 43720-2A.

Either should function/install well.

Both are Daniel Carpenter.

Were I making a barely-educated guess, I'd say that the trapezoidal w/s snuck onto some late-production 1966 fastbacks at certain plants, as a general whiff at a guideline.
