This is what happens when you run into a FedEx truck
I pulled out of a parking lot making a left turn and lost traction and slid back into the oncoming lane on a small street. Clipped the back of a FedEx truck causing minimal damage to the truck, but a bit more damage to the mustang...
Hood, fender, grill, bumper, valance and headlight are history. Inner Fender is a bit bent, but not too bad. Radiator support is bent up...I hope they can fix it without replacing it. Fortunately, nothing functional was damaged. The wheel did not get involved.
Just before, I was in the parking lot talking to a guy with a nicely restored '67 Camaro complementing him on his paint and I mentioned how I need to get my car repainted one of these days. Well...it's going to be sooner rather than later
My tires, Falken Azenis, are 6+ years old with less than 10K miles. I've been thinking that they were getting hard and traction wasn't as good as it used to be. I'll be getting new tires too...Geez
Very Bummed for a few days, but now I laugh about it and am grateful that the damage is limited to the body and no one got hurt.
Insurance deductible is $250 so that's good.
Where should I get new sheet metal and bumper?

That was a bad day for the stang but glad to know you are ok and no one was hurt. Now you have another reason for working on the pony.

Sorry man. Thats my biggest fear with mine. It can snap around so fast and the steering is so slow and you cant palm the wheel to keep up with the rear coming around with out power steering. Its a point and then shoot car.

Man, that sucks. To answer your question, the best sheet metal is rust-free originals. After that, "Original Tooling". Last and certainly least, Chinese crap.

hate to tell you this, but something isn't right...I raced these cars in the 70's on road courses (with oem fast steering)...I never had any issue with power sliding through a corner.
I tell you what, getting the repair and repaint for 250 is less than it would cost you to do it otherwise
Glad nobody is hurt!

Uh huh, we hear ya alright. You really told on yourself this time. Closer to the truth was, the guy in the camaro told you to see what it's got when you leave and so you had to show off a little. While "getting on it" one of your hands was tied up on the shifter getting another gear and was unable to steer it quick enough to overcome the rear steer. We are just wondering if you were power braking or not?
I'm just aggravating you, I totaled a 68 once showing off, burning rubber, spun 180 and went over an embankment. Told my dad I just lost control. He went to take a look and stepped off 200 feet of black marks. He knew exactly what happened. I only told a half truth or half lie.
Seriously, I'm glad nobody got hurt. Hope you're back burning more rubber soon.
