Know what? Some people just feel like if it's not the tops (omg that's not a GT500) then it's disappointing because it's not what THEY hoped your answer would be.
I have a 289 in my coupe. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a coupe with a 200 in it. Where else can you get so much bang for your buck in a vintage ride?
I see these people with 100k+ dollar trailer queens. They sit in the garage, look pretty. Maybe if they're lucky they drive once around the block twice a year to run the fluids. And you know what? I think my plain Jane 66 coupe probably feels a lot more loved than their one of one gold plated Cobra Jet Mustang with Quad exhaust and ejection seat.

Well, I have a 69 Mach 1, and the same snobs walk up to me and say, "Ohhhh, it's not a 428... yawn." So,there's ample snobs for every occasion and species of car. Usually, these ninnies don't even have a hobby car; because they don't, they get some evil delight in making restorers like us feel bad. Since I don't care to associate with snobs, I appreciate that they simply walk off.

I moved away form shows because i got so sick of hearing things like, my brothers girlfriend's step uncle has one like that except it has 1,000,000 HP, or it's special color thats one of 3, or whatever.
i think its the same with every brand of car
when i had my Model A... always had the noitalls checking for non original parts
with my MGB it was the early chrome bumper cars were better then the rubber bumper cars
myself,,, i like em all
I get the same vibe from most fastback owners, they look down on us coupes. I prefer the looks of the coupe, maybe it's because I'm younger than most classic owners and wasn't in high school when they came out. However, I don't think most people at shows even notice my car is a coupe, their heads are always under the hood

Another good reason to avoid the car shows. A good cruise night now and again is better time spent. I'd rather be behind the wheel for the most part. BTW I love coupes, so long as it's not a 71-73.........yuuuuk.

i know you were trying to make a funny, but I'm sure there are 71-73 coupe owners here.
I have been struck with how I like just about any vintage car when I see a nice example, even Mustang Alsos (Mustang IIs), camaros etc. I even saw a survivor Granada on Ebay that made me nostalgic, lol.
You can change the 6 anytime, should you choose. Here is my T code after two years of work. Just you try and talk me out of owning it these days. Let em talk. A coupe is a Mustang and any Mustang is better than no Mustang. And I agree "If you've got nothing good to say say nothing at all"
check out this 66 hardtop i used to own. it was bad news for the other guy. 351C 4V , wide box toploader , etc. it got hookers , big carb , etc. was terror on the street back in the 80's. yep it was just a plain ole hardtop. btw i was a geek but i got better ! my 1st mustang was a 66 plain jane hardtop that i got in 1973 if i ever find a foto i'll post it.

well i have owned 2 66 hardtops and 8 65-66 fastbacks and i dont look down on the hardtops even though my current 65 is a fastback gt k code. i wish i still had my 66 hardtop with the 351C 4V. btw i bought my 65 k back in 1974 for $125.00 otherwise i could care a less if its a "k" of "t" code. and i'v never ben caught between the "a" and the "t".

i would love to have another plain jane 69. i bought one around 1983 that came with a 302 , 3 speed. the guy had put a 351C 4V in it. it was bad news for the other guy. i bought a no rust , no wreck , no dent 68 torino fastback from a guy for 500 bucks several years ago. the guy had it up for sale for years. no one wanted it cause it wasnt a bb car. well that was good for me cause i built a mild 392W stroker for it that will bust an fe 390 to hell.
