Default Heirloom Mustang

In June of 1965 I was a 24 year old new college grad with a new job and a new wife. In August we bought a new Vintage Burgandy Mustang coupe with a 3-speed manual and a 2bbl 289:

A year later came a house and a dog:

Then came two kids, and after 13 years, a divorce. The ex kept the car and her new husband drove it until 2001, when it was abandoned in their front yard.

Fast forward to June of this year. My ex gave the car to our now 42 year old son, who hauled it up from California to my house in Washington:

Our plan is to modernize the car and get it complete by 2015, it's 50th anniversary. Dissasembly began:

The empty hulk was hauled off to the paint and body shop:

There it was broken down further and sand blasted:

Two months later it came back:

We are slowly making progress putting it back together:

It is now my son's car, and he has two pre-teen boys who hopefully will some day inheret it.

This forum has been a great help in this project, thanks to all of you.

This makes me want to go buy my first car back from the guy that owns it now. Very cool! Can't wait to see the progress!

Great story! But why is he wearing the WRONG USC hoodie? We all know the real USC is in SC! ;^)
