Sorry I guess I got ahead of myself. The car is a 1966 Mustang Coupe. The piece is in the driver side fender. Since I didn't remove the front grille i'm assuming it came from something to do with the head light assembly. thanks for the help guys.
I may be mistaken, but it looks like where you would put one of the speed-nuts

Hi Stephanorf. I don't think so, the piece that i have has not wings nothing just a solid piece of square metal that is threaded. I didn't even realize it came out until i was drilling out a broken off bolt that the last guy broke.
If you need it immediately you can find them at Lowes Hardware on the nuts and bolts aisle.

Hi Justin,
Here is the part installed in the fender. I took a pic of the front and the back so you can have an idea of what it looks like when it is installed.
Stephan This is exactly the part i'm looking for. Do you happen to know where i can purchase this part? Thanks for your help.
Wow, I searched around and can't find these either. Probably because they aren't supposed to come out of the fender in the first place. You might try AMK and see if they make something that will work, or if you have (or can find) a wrecked fender, pull one out and use it to replace the one you have.
Or better yet, is the one you have useable? The pic is pretty blurry. Maybe you can chase the threads and then JB Weld the old one back into the hole it came out of, or tack weld it with a mig welder?
The one I have someone broke the bolt off in. So I tried to drill it out. I guess Ill finish drilling it and re thread it. I was just trying to make sure that I wasn't over looking it. Thanks for your help.
The part that stephan posted looks like a headlight adjuster screw - those mount in the headlight buckets & not in the front of the fender. The part you are looking for is part of the fender. I had a couple of them pop out on my fenders so what I did was buy some square nuts (1/4"-20) at a hardware store and then weld them to the fender in the square holes. Worked great! Price for the square nuts was cheap - probably under 25 cents each. I'll bet that the only way you can find these nuts through a Mustang parts supplier is to get them already attached to an entire fender - not really a cost effective option!
The headlight adjusters use a finer thread. The part may physically fit & work, but you would need to use a fine thread bolt to attach your headlight buckets to the fenders. While not the right part for this application, the headlight adjusters are available along with the springs in a hardware kit from any of the major Mustang parts suppliers. The kit is under $10. Here's an example: http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...sp?T1=HH156+01
Edit: A speed nut like wareagle suggested will not work in that application. For a speed nut, you either need 2 holes side by side (one to slip the speed nut through & one for the bolt hole) or you need a hole at the open edge of a piece of metal. For examples of speed nuts, take a look at how your fenders are mounted to the aprons (holes side by side) or how your fenders or stone deflector mount to the front valance (hole at edge of metal).
