When I put my seam sealer on the rear part of my floor pan I plan on pressing a penny, nickel, dime and quarter from 1966 and 2013 in the seam sealer while it is still pliable.
2013 because it will be finished by then. Cheesy?

Not Cheesy at all, I like the idea... I personally wouldn't use the 2013 though.

Alternatively, you could slide a dime into the rocker panel cavity so that it can rattle around and drive the next owner crazy!! JK
Another idea is to make your own updated build sheet containing all pertinent history and modifications in a "time capsule" sort of way so that 40+ years from now, someone refreshing the car once again will stumble upon it and be amazed....or at least appreciative. Provenience starts someplace.

I dunno- it would be cool in 20 yrs-cause someone would know when it was built, then when it was rebuilt. Easy to remove if you change your mind. Alternatively you could use a small metal plate, stamping the date/name, and maybe a few mods, and rivet/weld/glue the plate somewhere for future owners. I might actually do something like that in the coupe since I know its history, and the dates it was sold. (I would just record the prev owners/dates on mine)
I like your idea about the coins in the sealant. However, you won't be able to get the 2013 coins for a while. So unless this task is a bit down the road, you will have to wait to find one of each. Are you going to cover the coins in a clear laquer or something so they will still be shiny when discovered?
I also like Jeff's idea about the time capsule! I think I'm going to steal that idea as well (when I ever get the time to start doing restoration as opposed to just maintenance like I do now!).
Thanks for the ideas guys!

I'll put it this way. I plan on having a rolling resto by May of 2013... Key word "plan"

I like the idea. I sign and date areas of the car that are unseen, like behind the fender.
I plan on passing this car down to one of the kids. I thought it might be cool for them, or the grandkids, to find in the future.
Passing mine down as well Qwk. Matter of fact, I am going to put in my will that the car never leaves the family.

I'd throw in a Presidential dollar coin to boot. I like those things. Pick your favorite president. You can get it at any coin shop. You'll pay only slightly more than face value. And compared to the price of any Mustang project, that's peanuts!
I like both ideas (coins and build sheets)! I like to leave stuff behind in the car that will remind me of what I've done and where I've been too. I don't sign my name, but I have a logo that I use on all of my handpainted shoes that I also draw in weird spots on the car that will never be seen unless someone's restoring it. Should start leaving some money in there too so I have money to fix stuff in the future Tape a few hundreds to the tie rods and wrap the differential in 20's... could be useful!
