Default Best place to get 5.0 HO roller motor

wrecking ward and rebuild it?

buy a rebuilt one? from where?

How about this blueprint one?-http://www.jegs.com/p/Blueprint-Engines/Blueprint-Engines-Ford-50L-HO-Replacement/857483/10002/-1

my plans for the engine would be -
edelbrock 600cfm carb
performer rpm manifold
comp cam xe266hr(future not right away)
afr 165(future not right away)
tri y headers, dual glasspack side exhaust

thats all so will that blueprint engine be fine or do I need steel cranks and forged pistons?
how would you get a 5.0 HO?

If you are going to build it later anyway, find a running 5.0 at wrecking yard or on craigslist. I bought a wrecked 89 gt for 600 and got whole drive train and then some. If you just want one done get a crate motor with what you want on it and be done. All depends on how much you are looking to spend right now.

Read about which 5.0s had the one you want. They messed about in the early 90s with different (non forged) pistons and such. I do believe you want one from the late 80s into 1990. You can find a tired hatchback GT for low money and probably part the car to pay for the whole purchase.

solid advice. IMHO I would save your shekels and build the motor you want the first time - IE the cam and heads you mentioned.

Check out Fordstrokers. Got my 347 from them. Great customer service and seet engfine. I was alos looking at blueprint for my 1966 project. But heard good and bad. Summit also sells them and have had good luck with prodcuts Summit markets even when I ran into some snags. Righ now for my 1966 project I am leaning very heavilyt to Ford Racing 306. Don't need the power I have in 347 and the price is pretty good.

With those parts a stock bottom end would be fine. Buy a used one or a parts car. I got mine from craigslist complete with AOD ( no accessories) for 300 and put in new bearings, the cam, carb and intake you want with trick flow heads. I can't see buying a new motor with E7TE heads if you're going to upgrade them anyway I sold mine on CL for $20 after months on there regularly lowering the price.

I can vouch for BluePrint, great engines. I have their 347 stroker with aluminum heads. Andrew at BluePrint is great to work with and can answer any questions. Can't beat their warranty! Another VMF member recently bought one too.
