Default AOD cable shifter modification?

Has anybody modified the shifter to use the cable like the fox body mustangs? I know the existing rod can be bent or a new one made, but was wondering if anyone went the other route and used the cable?
Thanks, Jim

That's an interesting idea. I'm getting ready to modify my shifter linkage for an aod, but that seems like it would be a lot easier.
