I have a set of Stan's FPA headers. I live just a few miles from his place and he was great to deal with. I was able to borrow his different headers when mocking up my 64 Comet and 65 Mustang. I went with the 1 3/4" step header on my Mustang and they fit great and tuck up tight.

Those are the same ones I have, along with a Mustang Steve clutch cable and the torque arm. They all work well together.

Doug's Headers makes some Tri-Y long tubes that fit. part# D 661 Y

Here's a pic of a TCI equipped Falcon with them installed.

Thanks. I decide to order some FPA headers...do you have any experience with those?

I don't. Looking at the pics on their site I would venture to guess you're going to have interference on the steering shaft. You may want to confirm with them if they have customers that have installed them in aftermarket front steer applications.

I spoke with Stan (owner of FPA) on the phone and told him everything I was doing to the car and he said the R&P steering would be no issues.

That's good to know. Let me know what part# you bought so I can add it to our tech sheet as an option for future customers.

6901-HKR - Black Paint - A steal at $165
6901-1HKR - Ceramic Coated
6901-2HKR - Stainless

I had to replace my other set of rusty no-names because they did not fit with my World Windsor Jr. Heads
Those say for 1969...theres no 1968 for those that I could find. I'm not looking to spend $500 on headers but the set I have now are in the way and hitting stuff. Anyone know the Hooker part # to an economical set for a 1968 coupe with a 289/302 would be?

Well, I put the stainless ones on my 67 302/t5/non-ps/non-pb. I can take pictures if you like. No denting or interference issues. Holleys site says they will fit 66-73. Summit lists them incorrectly.

I'm installing a set of these on my 69' right now, and they are absolute trash! Worst set of headers I have ever bought. NONE of the right side bolt holes on the drivers side will fit because they didn't indent the pipe far enough to allow the bolt to clear it. The stupid thing is pressed right up against the steering box and rubs the frame. Oh, and it doesn't exit straight back, it comes out at an angle, so I can't even bolt up my exhaust. The passenger side doesn't even drop down far enough to clear the frame. So, I'm probably going to have to end up denting the hell out of my exhaust pipe so I can bolt it up. I've installed numerous sets of headers over the years, and I have NEVER seen shoddy workmanship like this. I'm sure other people have no problem with these, but I'll never buy another set of headers from hooker again.

I did find the bolts a little difficult to start, but it's been better than the last two ford LTs I've delt with. My fit is flawless, not near the frame or steering box at all. Again my coupe is pretty stripped down. Stock manual steering box and Non-power brakes, No AC.

I have a clear straight shot at my exhaust. No frame interference.

For the record, you are installing one of the following on a 302 (not 351W)?
6901-HKR - Black Paint
6901-1HKR - Ceramic Coated
6901-2HKR - Stainless

If, so I would contact Hooker before I go banging dents in them. It's possible you got an incorrectly labeled box? I shoved mine in from underneath easy as can be. Even with the plugs in.

Quite a few other folks have had good luck with them.
