Not in terms of what was produced, but in terms of what you see on the road today (or at shows, cruise ins, whatever)....all repaints, etc.
What do you think are the most common colors? Least common?
for me, I seem to see a lot of red. I meanwhile have only seen one gold and one emberglo.

'68 vert. driver. Owned since '77. C code AT, AC, PS, P disc B, PT lime gold, standard black interior and top. NOS RF fender and left quarter.New top and folding glass.
Everyone always says red but I don't know that is the case.
I would say:
1)white
2)black
3)red
4)burgundy
Least common I would say is
silver
poppy red
baby blue
In all my salvage yard visits over the years haven't seen
that many red cars, especially with red interior.
When you see a red car usually has black interior.
Probably most common and least common colors could also be
by year.
My '68 is Seafoam Green. You didn't see them frequently in '68
and I haven't seen another one on the road in probably 10 years.
On the other side of the coin, lime gold was way up the list for
popularity...... I think #1 back in the day. I see at least 1-2 of those
a year....

Hmmm… For common colors, you left off dark green and light green.
For rare colors, you left off quite a few, but among the rarest would be beige. I have seen two. And as much as I have been around these cars, that's pretty amazing. It was a 66 coupe, and a 69 mach1. A color I have never seen is Pastel Gray. I've never seen one, although a friend of mine had a 70 GT350 that was supposed to be, and had been changed to yellow. The current owner is changing it back to Pastel Gray.
Check this site to see rare colors, like Groovy Green and Freudian Gilt. 1964-1973 Mustang Colors

Latest project is CandyApple Red. Pretty common imo.
Now, yes. Back in the 60's, not so much as you'd think. There were Mustangs parked in at least one driveway on every street in my town in NJ. None of them were red.

One reason I kept my original Champagne Gold is because you don't see it on every other old mustang. It's not rare and I've seen it on a few mustangs, but it makes a statement with the blacked out hood and rear panel.
Like 22GT said, there are a bunch of really rare colors out there that the average mustanger will never see.

Up there with the least common has to be emberglo as it was only available for one year, 1966. I really like it for the interior that went with this option.

I wasn't listing all the colors that were available, just the top few IMO of what was offered.
You are right, 66 beige is sure a rare one as well.
I worked at a service station in the early 70's and had a customer with
a beige 66 coupe that would bring their car in for service.
It had red interior which I thought was a odd choice for beige exterior.
I seemed to remember back in the 60's that maroon or vintage burgundy
was a popular color on many different car models, it would fade badly if
not kept up, clear coat has really helped protect the base color.
I you Google images of mustangs by year as I have with the 67, you will see mostly reds, dark blues and blacks. I guess I could count the pics and categorize them.
In 67 Dark Rose was the least at 2,395, and lime gold was the most at 73,760
In 68 Pebble Beige was 4687 and lime gold was 42,724
"Mustangs by the Numbers" has all the figures.
