Default Gaskets or seals between body and fender extensions?

I just noted that somebody had rubber like seals that would be applied between the headlight bucket and front fender and additionally between the rear fender extensions and the rear fender. He/she noted that this was a Ford idea as they noticed the paint cracked or chipped when the parts were fastened together. Has anybody ever heard of this? I don't believe I have ever seen any on a car. They would at the very least be slightly visible.

64 and early 65 did not have them. All others did. Most bodyshops that do not know early Mustangs don't know about the gaskets either. The majority of cars we tear down are found to have them removed. Their purpose is to keep the paint on the seam from cracking. We go through so many of them, I just started buying the gasket material by the roll.

My '66 has them on the quarters, but my Taiwan aftermarket headlight doors don't have any. And I don't think my originals did either.
About $2 from any vendor, although they can sometimes difficult to find in a catalog!

AFAIK has nothing to do with Taiwan. Don't think my factory ordered early 65 ("64 1/2") had em. Seems like they were added on the 67. Have no proof/evidence of when they were added but was an engineering/design.
