Anyone had success using a turn signal repair switch?
My 69 was sitting for 20 yrs without the steering wheel, so the plastic was brittle and broke just by touching it. The entire replacement is expensive, so I was wondering if anyone has used this item:
I bought one from Mustangs Unlimited. It took me 2 years to finally put it in and it's crap. It took me about 4 hrs fiddling with it to get the turn signals and brake lights to work. No matter what I do, I cannot get the Left turn signal brake light to work when the right turn signal is on.
I just ordered a Scott Drake replacement from summit for $70. I've read they work better. I guess it's mostly a crapshoot. Which sucks, because I'm into it for about $130 total now.
Thanks...I bought a new switch from NPD for my 65 a few yrs ago. colors were bright (almost flourescent) and completely wrong. I still dont have all the lights working right. Need to buy another.
The 69 is fine other than the plastic top...so I was curious if anyone has tried the repair kit. Might go for it...a lot cheaper and easier than tearing the old one out, and I might get a crap one again.
going to order one from cj pony on Friday, did you order the scott drake switch or the one with no mfg name. I'd like to know cause if the no name one is good I wont bother with the extra $10 for the scott drake one.

i just did the directional cam switch on my 69 the part came from laurel mountain mustang but it is made by scott drake. it was pretty simple if you have a steering wheel puller.
On my '68, back when I was a poor teenager in the late 70's,
I just replaced the cam by going to the junkyard, pulling a
steering wheel and carefully removing the cam. Re-installing
it though, was a real PITA as I recall. That fix lasted till the
early 90's when I went to the dealer and bought the whole
switch assembly.
I discovered that Lubriplate/white grease greatly extended
the life of the cam assembly.

I installed the replacement cam in my '68. I think it bought me an extra year of use before the entire switch finally crapped out. Just replace the entire switch, it'll save you time in the long run.
Cool that will same me $10 bucks to put towards something else.
