Default 65 Mustang Squeaking/Creaking Steering Wheel

My 65 Mustang steering wheel squeaks/creaks when you turn it in any direction. Could this be a bearing that has worn out? Is it this bearing that needs to be replaced? Is it this bearing?

Or do I need to lube the steering box? It sounds like it is coming directly from the steering wheel.

Any help would be appreciated.

You could try lubricating the slip rings. If that doesn't work, pull the wheel and lubricate the upper shaft bearing. If you examine the bearing and find it's shot, it can be replaced inexpensively.

I tried looking at this diagram but don't see a slip ring? Can someone point it out to me on here?
Also, to lubricate the slip ring, do I have to remove the steering wheel?

The slip rings are on the back of the steering wheel, and a quick shot of silicone through the gap between the wheel and column will tell.

I just wanted to say thanks for the help. I sprayed white lithium grease on the slip ring and the noise went away.
