Default Reproduction windshield trim issues

Just installed my windshield yesterday, but I did remember my top and side stainless trim was bent so I ordered new parts and reused the bottom piece.
Man, what a nightmare the upper parts are. The top outside corners are about 1/2" away from the body due to lack of proper curvature.
I pulled the originals out and spent a couple hours tapping out the dents and reshaping then using a flat file to start the polishing process.
What a difference in fitment!
Are WS trim pieces one of those items that need to be put in the "use originals only" category?
BTW, I had a chance to prefit my repro rears and they are perfect.

From what I have read repro stainless trim does not fit very well and is very thin so
it will bend/dent very easy.
I had a original set straightened and polished up by a chrome shop with excellent results.

Did you ever take a look at the side trim for the front windshield? I have to use 1 repro piece, and it looks like the bottom of the side pieces won't match the OEM bottom piece. Did you ever notice that?

Hmmm… Makes me wonder if there's a tool problem or your were damaged. I've installed these with no problem, other than being really careful since they are softer than OEM.

Repop trim=garbage. Have your OE trim polished. Many places can even remove dents and dings from trim too...

I saw a video of Chip Foose showing how to do this with a set of punches, chisels and miniature dollys. So I dug through the tool box and came up with my own.
I think I even impressed myself with my results.
And yes, the rears fit real good, but bent easily.

Mine was so bad, I had the windshield guy glue it down... Going to be a huge problem if I ever have to replace it, but could not get it right without glue...
