Default need feedback for replacing lower quarters while replcaing trunk floors

I have been working on the trunk floors. Dropped the leaf springs. Am thinking that I will go ahead and replace the rear lower quarters at the same time, as the bottom should line up with the bottom of the drop-off for the trunk floor.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Get your drop offs in first before the quarter patches, they may need some trimming or adding depending on what drop offs you got.

From what I heard some drop offs are shorter then others for what ever maker there is, mine came with the car when we got it and I don't know the maker of them.

I had to trim around an 1" +- from front to back on my trunk drop offs once I got my quarter fully in place and welded to the drop offs.
Here is how much mine were off compared to the original quarter.

You can see my purple marker line here as to where the drop off needed to be trimmed with the new quarter.

You can see here how much needed to be trimmed on the passenger side.

My passenger drop off was replaced- IIRC the part (thru npd) is for a 69-70- so it is longer to line up with the later yrs. I would not cut the excess until the qtr is installed (there is some fudge factor here) but my replacement qtrs needed tweaking- had I cut them early I would be short- I did trim them closer (so I could install the rear valance to check alignment) but final cut and trim will be done when I have the qtr actually tacked in place.

Thanks guys.

David, from all indications it appears I won't be needing to replace the entire quarters. Fortunately, there is a rear flair panel that covers exactly the areas of my quarters that were covered in bad rust spots.
