Depends on the question. Run of the mill ordinary Mustang? Mildly Modded. Something special like a KR or BOSS? STOCK!
Couldn't agree more. Considering my bank account will never allow something rare... I have to vote mildly modded.

Geez, touchy today? I just wanted to know the intention behind the poll so I could give a better answer. Are you asking what other people like just for the hell of it or asking because you have in mind selling some cars and are interested in what would be the most likely sellers to maximize profits? Either way is fine and dandy with me. But as I posted I would answer differently as to what kind of car I LIKE as opposed to what kind of car I would look to buy. And what I think other folks are most likely to buy. Polling for such info is quite sensible. Polling for what other people just like is fine too, just seems kind of random.
Hey now, Gypsy's question was valid. I prefer my own cars to be mildly modded with mods for certain things and stock for other, but if I were BUYING a car I would want to buy stock. Chances are very slim that a PO would have the same mods as the ones I would want so I'd rather just buy as unmolested as possible so I don't have to undo the stuff that I don't like.

I like them heavily modified. I've always liked the body style and lines of the car, but was never a fan of the old technology of the car (i.e. suspension, electronics, power output, etc.). In the 80's I used to wonder why Ford never took the old body style and put the new technology in it. They finally made the attempt in 2005.fficeffice" />
For those of you who are aware of project SN65 (65 fastback body put on top of an 03 Cobra platform), that is my dream car and the type of heavy modification I'm talking about.
Problem is it's not really what do you like? Not even what do you dislike? Worse yet what are you neutral at (undecided).
Ever see a post on here goes kinda like this: I have a 66 fastback (fastback has nothing to do with the posting) has brake problems. Locks up rear wheels easily even normal stops.
Did this just start?
Been this way since I got it.
Does your Stang have OEM brakes?
Dunno
Does master cyl have 2 comp or 1?
2.
Is one bigger...and on and on.
A simple mod but no records/instructions of what's on my car now!
When I was 16 got a job at a service station and convinced my Dad to loan me $300 for a modified 46 Ford coupe I fell in love with. There was nothing radical about the car except I could never be sure what something was that needed fixing. I got it for a steal because the guy couldn't get close to what he had in it. No one wanted a morphadite!
I was proud of that little sorta 46 Ford for the 6 years I drove it. The seller lost his A on that car! In my adult years I would have shied away from a similar car...I knew better!
When I finally sold it the next guy got a great deal. It was more modded than when I bought it and would have gone for a lot more if it was original! BUT, I had fun with it!

If the car is something rare, like a 69 Mach with a 428 or even a 65-66 GT (with real A or K code) I'd leave it stock or mildly modified (wheels and tires). If it's a plain jane coupe (like mine was) I go for modified (heavily in my case - at least as far as power train). I like classic looks with modern power, handling, safety, etc. (especially the power!)
Now as far as selling or buying, conventional wisdom says the farther from stock you get the more you limit your market. I am reluctant to buy a heavily modified car for fear it has been run hard (tip - never buy a Jeep with a winch on it - it probably had an exciting life). And with a custom car, you have to find a buyer who likes what you like, so lots of body mods and wild paint will limit the market (and thus the price). But I do think many buyers like modern features (fuel injection, disc brakes) and comfort (A/C) since newer cars are so comfortable and easy to drive.
My car was heavily modified but looked pretty much stock. I didn't have any trouble selling it, when I finally decided to sell it, and got a good price (on CL at that). I also had complete documentation, all instructions, receipts, and a CD-ROM with all the wiring diagrams. The 'feedback' I got from driving and showing it for 4 years was people love the modern tech but the cost/price (in my case) is beyond what many would pay for a coupe. But if it's done well there is usually somebody out there willing to pay for what rings their bell.

Totally agree with Gypsy. The poll question is very vague. It would be like asking "200 or 289?" We would need to know the background on why you are asking. We could have ten pages of posts then find out you want a daily driver for your teen age daughter- one that will get good gas mileage. OR, You've found two cars just alike- one with a six cylinder and one with a V-8 and you want to know which way to go for a quick flip.
So, knowing your intentions helps us form our replies. No need to jump on a fellow member when he asks for some clarification.

I can't stand them stock, personally. But there's a whole other
part of the hobby that thinks anything but factory original is
a crime against nature.
So it's one of those kinda questions.......
Kinda me too, tubbed and cammed they're totally different cars.

The poll question is what do YOU prefer?
I then went on in the post to say what I was thinking about doing.

If my 68 vert exactly as modded was sitting next one exactly same but unmodded I would pass on the modded one, gladly paying more for the unmodded one!

I like modded for driving excitement and safety, stock to gaze at, at a car show.
Everytime I see your post with your car on the post, I keep lovin' it!! Guess it's the way it sits being lowered. Almost tempting me to go that route. haha. I like my stance still. I think Kenster's fastback too sits nicely.

OK. I answered the poll as to what I liked and then went on to read your post. So I did answer the poll the way I was supposed to.
Just for the heck of it you could run another poll about what cars people here would be most interested in actually buying. And include "needing full restoration" as a choice. Might be interesting.
