Default 3 point seat belts for 67 fastback

I am thinking about upgrading my seat belts to 3 point belts, but I am struggling to find something that works.

I like the Scott Drake 68-73 Mustang 3 Point Seat Belts with Vintage Push Button, but I am nervous that I would not be able to get it to work with my 67 fastback.

Has anyone installed these on a 67 or know if they would work for my application?

I was just trying to figure these out today and came here to ask if anyone had installed these yet!

It doesn't appear to me that they "bolt right in"... The top part with the stud is one size too big for the threaded insert at the OEM shoulder belt attachment 68 coup

If you do a search using my name + 3pt seatbelts, you will see that I have done this to both a 67 and 68 fastback. You can also google it as well. It took me to a 2008 VMF thread about this subject.

Why not simply install '68-style belts (the ones installed by the factory starting 1-1-68)?

I will be doing this in the next few weeks as well. I plan on ordering from gotbelts.com (I want the aviation style). I just have to figure out the correct length, which I'll be searching for/asking in the next little while.

Here is a YouTube video that I found that shows how to install 3 points on a 67 fastback:

I bought the belts NPD sells and installed them in my son's '65 fastback. The install was pretty easy, about the same as the youtube video with Jeff Ford. Didn't have to do any welding, the kit comes with a plate with a stud welded that goes thru the upper hole with a thin nut to hold it in place. In the youtube video, the factory nut in the rocker where the end of the belt goes, I also attached the retractor here with a supplied bracket. Didn't have to put a hole in the floor with a big *** bolt thru it.

Is this the kit you bought: 1967 MUSTANG SEAT BELT CONVERSION SET 3 POINT SHOULDER HARNESS BLACK | 61172-3A | NPD

I'm definitely interested in this. Especially if it comes with everything you need to do the conversion.

yep. I thought the install was pretty easy, car was a stripped shell when I did it, no headliner etc. Instructions were terrible though, the sheet that came with the belts was for
installation in a '55 Chevy. I winged it and made a few modifications. One I can remember, the plate with stud that the upper belt bolts to is supposed to be held in place by 2 rivets, I simply ground down a nut to about 1/4" thick and bolted it on, then slid the belt over and bolted it on, the 1/4" nut is hidden behind the headliner. Also shortened the stud, it stuck into the car too far. Drop me a pm with an email address and I can shoot you some pictures tonight.
