Default 1970 Standard to Auto Transmission

As part of the restoration of my car I swapped the top loader 4 speed to a C6 automatic. I have taken a lot of criticism about the move but it was originally and auto and I thought it would make it closer to factory, it also was also an olive branch to my wife so she could drive the car.
I changed out the rear end gears from 4:11 to 3:55, got the right length drive shaft, on the auto shifter I had to cut a one inch section out of the linkage rod from the shifter to the tranny I think this was due to the C6 vs the FMX that came with the car. Got the neutral safety switch installed and working, but still have a couple issues. I have an edelbrok carb on the engine that works fine but it has no auto choke or provisions for the kick down rod from the trans. I'm pretty sure I can find a manual choke cable I can use for a cold start but how am I going to be effected if I don't use the kick down rod? If I buy the model carb made for an automatic will it have provisions for the kick down rod? There was also a rod that connected to the steering column lock out as well I believe. If I don't install that rod to I have to worry about that engaging if I do not have anything connected?

Also am wondering how the overall performance is going to be, the car has a pretty aggressive camshaft which was fun with the standard but I am thinking I may have to swap that out... I am going to see how it drives with whats in there first.

Thanks Ken C

You can get an electric choke kit and a kickdown adapter for your Edelbrock carb.

Yes, you could go with a manual choke. But it' smuch easier to install an electric choke. It's up to you.

I agree. The kickdown adapter will allow installation of the rod.

If she wouldn't use a manual trans, a manual choke isn't going to fly, either.

Thank, but I am still debating on the 4 or 5 speed? To much power for a WC but the 4 speed toploader will handle it. Just want the extra gear.
