Default Need advice on possible purchase

I am looking to purchase a fastback and came across a 1966 fastback GT. It is a pretty clean driver but the bad part is that the frame rails are rusted and need replacing. The seller purchased it two years ago with the intention of doing the repair himself but as it goes is a much bigger job then he initially thought. He says that the previous owner did all the other rust repairs on it except for the frame rails.

My dilemma is that if I were to buy this car I would need someone to do the welding for me. And that is going to get expensive.

So, I guess my question is, would you buy this car?

Here are some pics.

I left out a few key details. He is asking $12k for it. It runs but the motor needs work which I am not too concerned with. I can rebuild it. The rust is what scares me along with what else I am going to find one I start the frame repair.

Thanks

The car looks nice, but I wonder what other rust issues may be lurking. I can't imagine spending the money on paint and interior, and putting such over a car with rusted frame rails. What else did they cover up with paint/interior? With that, the car otherwise looks worth the money in California dollars. I also note that before I sent my two cars to the body shop (one is a Mustang and the other a Camaro), I thought rust repair was too costly. I was pleasantly surprised that replacing panels, etc. was not too cost prohibitive. Does the seller have photos of the car being restored, so that you can see if there was other rust? That's my two cents--you'll probably get better comments from the more experienced folks on this awesome site.

If the frame rails are rusted there is a very good chance that there is a lot more rust that is hidden. I would buy it for the right price, just be prepared for it to need a complete restoration.

I don't have any pics of the frame rails but maybe able to get some soon. I looked underneath and saw how bad it was just no good angle to take a pic. My main concern is what was stated. Looks nice from the outside but how good of a job did they do repairing the other rust.

When you are talking rusty frame rails, front? Rear? Both?

As a rule, the rust you see is only the tip of the iceberg.
Add fresh paint into the mix and you'd better be very, very careful.

Both front and rears are rusted. The rears looked worse but both need work.
