Default Am I missing it? CSRP vs SSBC

As stated in a previous thread, I'm considering upgrading to front disc brakes on my 66 coupe.

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the major price differences between the above two vendor's kits.

Is there a major difference in the quality of components in their kits?

Looking at non-power assisted kits.

As usual would love and feedback and thoughts.

Csrp. Price is great and work great. I'm sure SSBC is good but maybe cost more, but love csrp. Brakes nicely. No regrets! I don't have powered brakes but I don't think it's really necessary unless you have toothpick legs. Hah. No offense.

my understanding is that CSRP is stock style components, where as SSBC is more performance oriented.

I know that SSBC uses stainless steel pistons in their calipers. Don't know if CSRP's are stainless, phenolic, coated or

The drawback to me is that CSRP does not offer a rear disc brake kit...because it did not come stock on the car. That is what is keeping me from choosing them. I know I will get flamed hard on this one by all the "drum brakes are good enough on the rear folks" but I want to add disc brakes to the rear...as well as the front.

I put the CSRP front discs on and can only say that they are a HUGE improvement over the front drums. Never had SSBC brakes so I can't compare directly but I don't see any difference that would justify the additional cost.

A well built rear drum setup will work fine, but I'm on your side. I'm doing so many performance and safety mods to my car, why stop at the rear brakes at this point? The thing I love about discs is that they don't need to be perfectly adjusted to work perfectly, plus, they're going to look better...

My CSRP kit is being installed next week. I'm running 14" torq thrust d's and Dennis said they should work fine. Crossing my fingers.

Usually when you get the csrp kit, you question if the 15's like my setup would fit. So you can uncross your fingers because your 14's will fit with NO issues.

OK, so no one is panning the quality of parts or service of the CSRP kits, nor making an argument that the SSBC stuff is far superior. Seems like the CSRP kits are the way to go..What was that about $19 shipping? I was quoted about $65 to my neck of the woods.

One more happy customer for CSRP. Talked to Dennis quite a bit before I dropped the cash. Kit went in with zero problems, and I can't say enough nice things about him. The shipping is probably a deal he hives to VMF members, so make sure you tell him you are one.

Just tell them you saw the banner ad at the top of the vintage mustang forum. It'll show up every once in a while saying $19 shipping *if you mention the ad.
